ObjectiveIdentify, evaluated and to compare the therapeutic conducts applied in the patients' managing with mucositis secondary to chemotherapy and / or radiotherapy for the Cancer Center of the University Hospital Hernando Moncaleano Perdomo Neiva's (HUHMP) during the year 2016.Materials and methodsObservational, monocentric, historical cohort study, 1512 clinical histories were reviewed and therapeutic conducts were analyzed, evaluating these in terms of time to resolution of the disease and its evidence.ResultsUsing prophylactic therapeutic conduct, the disease was prevented in 87.5% of cases. The 75.5% responded to treatment with an average resolution of 9.8 days. A 100% of the complications corresponded to oral candidiasis and they were managed with fluconazole achieving an average resolution of 11.8 days.ConclusionsThe current evidence on the management of mucositis is scarce and contradictory in some cases. There does not exist definitive treatment for this condition, but if options that can improve the symptomatology.ObjetivoIdentificar, evaluar y comparar las conductas terapéuticas aplicadas en el manejo de pacientes con mucositis secundaria a quimioterapia y/o radioterapia por en el Centro Oncológico del Hospital Universitario Hernando Moncaleano Perdomo (HUHMP) de Neiva durante el año 2016.Materiales y métodosEstudio de cohorte histórica, observacional, monocentrico, se revisaron 1512 historias clínicas y se analizaron las conductas terapéuticas evaluando estas en términos de tiempo de resolución de la enfermedad y su evidencia.ResultadosEmpleando la conducta terapéutica profiláctica, se logró prevenir la enfermedad en 87,5% de los casos. El75,5% respondieron al tratamiento con una resolución promedio de 9,8 dias. El 100% de las complicaciones correspondieron a candidiasis oral y fueron manejadas con fluconazol logrando una resolución promedio de 11,8 días.ConclusionesLa evidencia actual sobre el manejo de mucositis es escasa y contradictoria en algunos casos. No existe esquema de tratamiento definitivo para esta condición, pero si opciones que pueden mejorar la sintomatología
