This work aims to present some information on the pre-colonial population that inhabited the current territory of Santa Catarina, specially the Island of Santa Catarina. The intention is to understand the relation of the populations that had inhabited here with the environment, how they had intervened with the landscape, theirs cults, and how they were organized socially and culturally. Moreover, our objective is change the conceptions of most of the writings produced about Santa Catarina that concentrate the studies of native people on the last two centuries forget the origins of precolonial populations.Este trabalho tem por objetivo fornecer um maior entendimento sobre as populações pré-coloniais que habitavam o atual território de Santa Catarina, com um enfoque específico para a Ilha de Santa Catarina. A intenção é tentar compreender minimamente, ao final do artigo, a relação dessas populações com o ambiente, como interferiram na paisagem, seus cultos, como se organizavam socialmente e culturalmente. Com disso, procurar mudar a linha de concepção da maioria dos escritos produzidos sobre Santa Catarina, que tratam sobre os últimos dois séculos da história catarinense e acabam por esquecer as origens nas populações pré-coloniais
