PANDANGAN MASYARAKAT MUSLIM MODERN TERHADAP PANDEMI COVID-19: REFLEKSI SEJARAH PENAGGULANGAN WABAH DALAM ISLAM

Abstract

This study examines the perspective of modern Muslim communities related to the outbreak of the Covid-19 virus today. The response to the plague has been taught and exemplified since the time of the Prophet and companions for example by prohibiting people from entering the area affected by the plague and risking the safety of the soul. Modern Muslim societies must be able to respond wisely and strive to obey government policies in countering Covid-19. This research was conducted by examining the thinking of modern Muslim community leaders today through methods of character study, literature review, source criticism and interpretation with a historical sociological approach using comparative studies. This research aims to find out the response of modern society to the Covid-19 pandemic that is sweeping the world today and synergize with the historical facts taught by Islam in addressing similar problems so that modern Muslim communities can be productive and wiser in facing challenges in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic and able to strengthen the spirit of fellow Muslims from various parts of the world   affected by similar cases. This study shows that the Covid-19 pandemic has a huge influence in changing social patterns of society. Modern Muslim societies are required to be able to follow the development of technological progress and be more critical and innovative in creating reforms in various sectors such as education, culture and economic development of society by utilizing technology and digital activities and reflecting on the history of Islam by relying on the Quran and the Sunna of the Prophet so that the Muslim community can continue to advance without abandoning its identity as a Muslim
