The present article advances the concept of sustainable
development at the regional level. A brief review of the literature on
sustainable development, be it from primary or secondary sources,
reveals that there is a relatively small number of studies in this area at
the national level. Therefore, we considered it appropriate to carry out
an analysis regarding macroeconomic indicators in one of the
development regions of our country, namely South-West Oltenia.
Sustainable development involves a combination of economic, social,
political and environmental policies to ensure effective management of
the planet. Nevertheless, all these must be accomplished taking into
consideration the implications of the current economic crisis
