DUKUN DAN POLITIK (Peran Dukun Dalam Pemilukada Di Banyuwangi Tahun 2010)

Abstract

Shaman (dukun) are important actors and have a social role in the community culture. The role of dukun in the midst of modernization was still retained as public beliefs on magic power (supranatural) still affecting life. The role of dukun covers all areas of life including politics. Dukun in the field of politics plays an important role not only aspects of spirituality but also as public speakers when practicing. General Election of District Head (Pemilukada) as an field of contestation has formed own reason for each actor to act. Reason of mystical and rational also met in the Election. Dukun and mystical reasoning become a basis to build and use a set of mystical abilities at certain disposal to influence. While building a logical candidate the rationality by making dukun as a means to reach a goal. The relation between the district head candidates and dukun are reciprocal. The head Candidates use dukun to gain support from the masses of patients held by the dukun for political purposes. While the dukun uses regional head candidates to gain economic advantage and legitimacy as a powerful dukun. In building relationships with dukun, district head candidates using a variety of political strategy, that done by intervening when practicing. The Intervention are by providing a number of benefits and utilize the dukun authority in society. Dukun acted as a vote getter, manufacturing issues, and as a political network in the General Election of District Head. This qualitative research used phenomenology method. This study aims to determine the motivation of the head candidate related to the dukun and uncover the power relations and the as dukun in Banyuwangi in 2010. Relations with the candidate the dukun analyzed using Weber's conceptualization of action. The theory of the German sociologist's analysis used as a knife to describe the act of head candidate that influenced by subjective understanding (Verstehen) that attached to him. Rationality, motive to act, situation, and acting make district head candidates to achieve the goal. This qualitative research explores relationships with the candidate the role of dukun in the world of politics that has information from the prospective head district, team success, people close to the prospective head district, dukun, some politicians and community leaders. Candidates for district heads has its own motivation based on rationality when deciding to contact dukun. Motivation to seek spiritual support and political motivation network is for political purposes. The relation between regional head candidates is reciprocal that gave birth to split the profits
