David Salisbury, University of Dayton Sherman-StandardRegister Professor of Cybersecurity Management, has beentapped as the  rst leader of the University's new Center forCybersecurity & Data Intelligence, which was established toenhance the cyberhealth of the Dayton community with alead gift from Premier Health."Dave brings a great deal of expertise and collaborativeexperience to this position. We are extremely excited aboutthe new opportunities in experiential learning, research andindustry outreach the center will develop under hisleadership," said Tom Skill, University of Dayton chiefinformation o cer.Salisbury, who helped create and now administers thecybersecurity course sequence in the University of Dayton'sSchool of Business Administration, specializes in examiningcriminal and terrorist uses of information technology. Inaddition to his cybersecurity work, Salisbury has researchedinformation technology in uences on small groupinteraction, managing organizational knowledge and prices inonline markets.Information Systems Research, Small GroupResearch, Information & Management, Decision SupportSystems, Communications of the AIS, Group Decision &Negotiation, Electronic Markets and The Database forAdvances in Information Systems, among others, havepublished his work.  In addition to Premier Health, the center's partners includethe Southwestern Ohio Council for Higher Education andCinDay Cyber Corridor, which work to increase the pipelineof students pursuing cybersecurity careers, and the Daytoninformation technology trade association Technology First.The center hosts the Dayton Regional Cyber Range, a hands-on cybersecurity simulator that provides students with real-world experience in detecting and managing threats tocomputer systems. Funded by the Ohio Department ofHigher Education’s RAPIDS program, this cyber range is partof a regional collaboration with Sinclair, Clark State andEdison community colleges and Central State University.The center's partners also work with the University ofDayton's faculty experts and information technology sta  togrow a trained cyber workforce in the region, identify andtest new cybersecurity practices, create education andawareness programs for employees, train informationtechnology teams on incident readiness and response, sharebest practices with the greater Dayton community, and bringall that expertise into university classrooms.Partners also bene t from opportunities to interact withUniversity of Dayton students and graduates for internshipsand employment recruitment, as well as discounted accessto the cybersecurity center's training and continuingeducation workshops, institutes and certi cation sessions."Bringing the region's experts together to address datasecurity and analysis helps everyone better predict cyberrisks and respond to and recover from cyberattacks,"Salisbury said.
