Course Goals:  This course is intended to serve as an introduction to psychopharmacotherapeutics (drug therapy of psychiatric illness).  It is the intent that you gain sufficient knowledge to: 1. Put drug therapy of psychiatric disorders into proper perspective, 2. Recognize the benefits and risks of pharmacotherapy, 3. Think in people first terms.  4. Comprehend the effect psychiatric disorders have on people lives 5. Identify the target symptoms of pharmacotherapy in psychiatric illness 6. Understand the effect mental illness has on the person   The University requires the following statement on all syllabi: “All students must practice academic honesty.  Academic misconduct is subject to an academic penalty by the course instructor and/or a disciplinary sanction by the University.  All students need to be familiar with the Student Conduct Code.
