Abstract

The present paper intends to draw a theoretical line between in-the-closet (homo) sexuality and translation, usingthe experiences in translation of those who worked for the twentieth-century Argentinean literary magazine calledSur: José Bianco, Enrique Pezzoni, Victoria Ocampo and H.A. Murena. Through a critical reading of explicit of partially veiled discourses on homosexuality in works writte sn and translated in this period, particularly in the context of discourses on translation theory, gender and sexuality, a question inevitably arises in relation to current debates: is translation a closet? And, if so: how and when
