Prototyping and design of a rehabilitation device for hand rheumatoid arthritis

Abstract

[ES] El presente artículo describelos avances realizados en la aplicación de las tecnologías de prototipado rápido (RP) en el desarrollo de prótesis personalizadas para la rehabilitación física de la mano en pacientes con Artritis Reumatoide Crónica (AR).La metodología creada tiene en cuenta aspectos relacionados con la fisiología del movimiento de la mano y los problemas de movilidad que sufren los pacientes crónicos de AR sobre todo en los movimientos específicos de las falanges y huesos metacarpianos.Desde elpunto de vista tecnológico, se han aplicado las técnicas de digitalización en la toma de datos del paciente, el uso del Diseño Asistido por Ordenador(DAO)en la generación de un modelo virtual y la formalización de un exoesqueleto para la rehabilitación mediante el uso de las técnicas deRP.[EN] This article describes the advances made in the application of rapid prototyping technologies (RP) in the development of personalized prostheses for the hand physical rehabilitation in patients with Chronic Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA). The methodology created considersaspects related to the physiology of hand movement and mobility problems suffered by chronic RA patients, especially in the specific movements of the metacarpal bones and phalanges. From the technological point of view, digitalization techniques have been applied in the taking of patient data, the use of Computer Aided Design, CADin the generation of a virtual model and the formalization of an exoskeleton for rehabilitation through the use of RPMoya, R.; Magal-Royo, T.
