A crescente preocupação com o meio ambiente e com o futuro do planeta, levaram à implementação de leis rı́gidas sobre as emissões para a atmosfera de NOx. Para se conseguir cumprir com os requisitos das novas leis, a Bosch teve necessidade de desenvolver novos modelos de esquentadores, mais complexos tanto a nı́vel funcional como de construção. A presente dissertação visa estudar o funcionamento dos esquentadores e explicar os testes funcionais utilizados, propondo-se métodos de melhoria aos processos, com o objectivo de diminuir o tempo necessário à realização dos ensaios funcionais, mas sem nunca colocar em causa a qualidade dos esquentadores produzidos.The growing concern for the environment and the future of the planet, led to the implementation of strict laws on emissions to the atmosphere of NOx. In order to meet the requirements of the new laws, Bosch needed to develop new models of water heaters, which are more complex both at the functional and construction levels. The present dissertation aims to study the operation of water heaters and to explain the functional tests used, and then propose improvements to the processes in order to reduce the time required to perform the functional tests, but without ever jeopardizing the quality of the water heaters produced.Mestrado em Engenharia Eletrónica e Telecomunicaçõe
