EDUCATION AS A COMMUNITY EXPERIENCE AND THE SCHOOL VIVA OLHO DO TEMPO: THE CIRCULAR OF KNOWLEDGE AS AN INNOVATIVE ALTERNATIVE PRACTICE

Abstract

This study seeks to analyze the dialogue circles of Escola Viva Olho do Tempo (EVOT) and understand their contributions to education based on practices based on common experiences between subjects. We start from the theoretical framework on popular and community education and, in the methodological aspect, we highlight the qualitative character of this research, with participant observation and the utilization of field diaries. Data analysis was carried out based on the categories Dialogue, Hope, Emancipation and Knowledge. The results point to the effectiveness of this educational conception, and it highlights the relevance of the dialogue circles to forge subjects who think, feel and act according to their worldview, aware of their transformative power over themselves and over the world. We conclude that EVOT's dialogue circles are spaces for the realization of community education, an educational concept that escapes the Eurocentric molds that exclude, segregate and determine the place of subjects in society
