Földrengés nyomai a kalotaszegi Magyargyerőmonostor református templomán: Evidence for earthquake damage in the Calvinist church of Mănăstireni (Magyargyerőmonostor, Romania)

Abstract

Archaeoseismological study of the Medieval Calvinist church at Mănăstireni (Magyargyerőmonostor, Romania) revealed various deformation features which are attributed to earthquake(s). Tilted northern wall supported by buttresses, deformed, sunken arches, and masonry blocks bearing crosscutting fractures support dubious historical evidence that the southern tower collapsed due to an earthquake sometime in the 17-18th century
