A gyógyszernek használt „tokaji föld” ásványtani meghatározása: Mineralogy of the historical medicine called „Tokaj earth”

Abstract

A historical medicine, a clay variety called “terra medicinalis Tokayensis” was analysed by mineralogical methods. The material corresponds to the traditional definition of bolus. Two samples of bolus were taken from mineral collections. They occur as vein filling in pyroxene dacite on Nagy Hill, Tokaj. By XRD and thermal analysis disordered, fireclay type kaolinite and less goethite were identified, considered to be product of weathering of volcanic rocks, partly modified previously by low-temperature hydrothermal action
