Knowledge management and organizational culture is two of the main components to support and enhance an organization’s innovation capabilities. Through a systematic study of relevant literature, we analyze how knowledge management and organizational culture constitute innovation capability and how an organization can optimize or support its innovation capabilities. We synthesize the literature to find 16 factors for innovation that are related to either knowledge management, organizational culture, or both. These factors are used to create a conceptual framework for analyzing an organization’s innovation capability. The framework is presented by discussing notable relations between knowledge management and organizational culture in the framework – both overall and through the relations between the 16 factors.All 16 factors can generally be separated into two groups: (1) those that encourage or motivate innovative behavior such as knowledge creation, sharing, and use; and (2) those that facilitate the possibility to engage in innovative behavior. Although the actual examination of an organization’s innovation capabilities is beyond the scope of this study, we use two factors and examples to create and discuss a possible questionnaire design
