In this paper we examine communicative issues in the local live music environment specifically between artists and venues in relation to booking and managing events. We seek to answer the question of how an IT-solution might solve or mitigate these communicative issues. Through analysis of qualitative empirical data, we derived requirements for a possible IT-solution, a web-platform, of which we built a prototype (LocaLive). The prototype undergoes two iterations of the Work System Life Cycle models initiation-phase and development-phase, the first iteration based on initial research, the latter based on our empirical data and theoretical interface design rules. We identified and developed functionalities for two usergroups, namely Artist (Booking agent) and Venue (Booker), aiming for Usability Testing - by analysing our body of data, we extrapolated which functions would be beneficial and how to implement them. We find that the solution to the communicative issues is incorporating fewer tasks and steps in communicative exchanges, i.e. synthesizing functionality otherwise used on different platforms for different tasks
