AbstractThe purpose of this research paper is to investigate how Teaterhuset, a non-profitorganization, can understand their employees and volunteers motivation. Thescientific standpoint of this paper is critical realism which allows us to study theunderlying mechanisms. The empirical foundation of our research is fourqualitative research interviews with two employees and two volunteers atTeaterhuset. To understand how motivation is expressed by the interviewparticipants we use the theoretical framework of vitaliseringsmodellen.Sensemaking theory is used to understand how the informants create meaningabout their own participation in Teaterhuset. The analysis is divided into twosections. The first section highlights three themes named vision, development,and community. The second section is viewed from a theoretic leadershipperspective using the two theories purposedriven leadership and transformationalleadership. Moreover, it is discussed if and how our research paper contributes tothe current field of research. Finally, the project concludes that the individuals aredriven by the community Teaterhuset can offer where they can develop theirpersonal skills, contribute to a greater good, and expand their network by being apart of the community. This is achieved through an alignment between theorganization's vision and the participants personal purpose
