Denne rapport undersøger cannabisprodukter som et alternativ til morfin og ibuprofen mod kroniske smerter. Rapporten blev udarbejdet ved at gennemgå tidligere udgivne artikler og analysere effekterne af morfin, ibuprofen og cannabisprodukter på mennesker. Den første del af rapporten identificerer kroniske smerter som et alvorligt samfundsproblem og beskriver den medicin, man bruger til behandling af smerterne. Derefter beskrives reaktionsmekanismerne og bivirkningerne ved denne medicin, som er stor risiko for morfinafhængighed og mavesår og hjerteanfald ved ibuprofen. Efter beskrivelsen af problemerne med morfin og ibuprofen introduceres cannabis som en alternativ behandlingsmetode, og det beskrives, hvordan cannabinoiderne THC og CBD virker i kroppen. I analysen gennemgås 20 eksperimentelle studier med morfin, ibuprofen og cannabis, som derefter diskuteres. THC viste sig at være et effektivt smertestillende middel, som medførte psykoaktivitet og andre bivirkninger, mens CBD ikke er helt så effektivt som THC, men heller ikke har nogen bivirkninger. Derfor konkluderes det, at THC er godt mod korterevarende smerter, mens CBD er en bedre løsning mod længerevarende smerter. Cannabis har vist sig at være et reelt alternativ til den nuværende medicin mod kroniske smerter, men indtil videre er der ikke lavet studier nok til, at cannabis kan erstatte morfin og ibuprofen.This study looks at products from the cannabis plant as an alternative to morphine and ibuprofen as a treatment for chronic pain. The study was performed by reviewing previously released articles and analyzing the effects of morphine, ibuprofen and cannabis products on humans. The first part of the study identifies chronic pain as a major problem in society and lists the treatments used today. Then, the reaction mechanisms and side effects are described, identifying the high risk for addiction to morphine and ulcers and heart complications related to ibuprofen use. After identifying the problems related to morphine and ibuprofen, cannabis is introduced as an alternative treatment, describing the way the cannabinoids THC and CBD work inside the body. In the analysis, 20 experimental studies with morphine, ibuprofen and cannabis tested against chronic pain are analyzed, and thereafter, they are discussed and compared. THC is shown to be an effective pain killer but has some side effects, including psychoactive effects, while CBD is not quite as effective as THC but has no side effects. Therefore, the study concludes that THC is good for treating short-term pain and CBD is better long-term. Cannabis is found to be a legit medical alternative to the medicine used today for treating chronic pain, but that for now, too little research has been done for cannabis to replace morphine and ibuprofen
