In this project we examine how Performance Design as a research field can contribute to the implementation of the new sustainable economic thought of Doughnut Economics developed by British economist Kate Raworth. We seek to explore this issue within private companies due to the lack of research within this field. We wish to develop empirical research within the frames of Doughnut Economics that can contribute to further understandings on co-designing processes that centers around implementation of sustainability initiatives.We base the scientific approach of this paper within the frames of action research; hence, we try to actively engage within our research field as well as contribute to sustainable transformation. Throughout this paper we co-design our design process with Matkon, a small danish company. In order to do so, we use co-design as an approach to our design process, and specifically work within frameworks that deals with designing for transformations and sustainability. Furthermore, we use co-design and situated design frameworks and terms to analyse and discuss our empirical data. Our data consists of interviews, participation observations and autoethnography, which was collected through our design process as well as during a workshop.Our workshop can be considered a micro enactment of a wicked problem and reflects how society have difficulty in talking about and acting on issues of sustainability. However, co- design and the Doughnut Model entails tools which can help in the process of bringing abstracts problem of sustainability down to a concrete and actionable level. Furthermore, the tools can be considered appropriate when used in the context of private businesses, due to their simplicity, concretisation of the term sustainability as well as their focus on participant possibilities for participation. We do however suggest more should be done within the field to further develop ways in which companies and organisations can facilitate conversation about sustainability as well as implement and build upon existing sustainability initiatives
