This paper encompasses a description and a critical analysis of the production- and business strategy C2C. Owing to the complexity of the strategy we have chosen to focus on the utilization of the strategy within architecture. A short statement/account of a number of environmental political strategies used in the production and construction sectors is conducted in order to draw parallels to the C2C strategy and to emphasize qualities and challenges. The analysis of the paper shows the strategies’ differences and similarities and clarifies that the selected strategies prioritize initiatives differently and define sustainability from different environmental, social and economical aspects. The paper argues that the strength of the C2C strategy is due to the high consumption of the Western World which can be maintained as long as the production material is not discarded and as long as the energy sources are renewable. Also a strength of the C2C strategy is the leasing system that the production companies are encouraged to enter into where the production material is recycled which means a reduction of the price on components for the sustainability construction. The industry which shall complete the C2C cycle of nutrients, collection and reproduction of production material has not yet been established. This could be due to MBDC’s lack of knowledge sharing in this area. The case study of Green Lighthouse illustrates that it appears as if the ideals of the C2C strategy are intangible when they are confronted with reality and are being used in a specific construction. The paper shows that the certification process of the C2C strategy could have both a negative and a positive effect on the dissemination of sustainable constructions. Furthermore it concludes that the state governed consensus strategy may be an effective tool for the dissemination of sustainability. As a conclusion the paper puts into perspective new challenges which could be of interest for further studies of the subject.This paper encompasses a description and a critical analysis of the production- and business strategy C2C.
