E-Government - Assessment of Current Research and Some Proposals for Future Directions

Abstract

Electronic Government, or e-Government, is on the agenda both in research and in practice and there is a rather broad research field. Several researchers are involved in a range of different research projects concerning different topics within the area and are generating an increasing amount of research literature. This paper examines current research concerned with e-Government in order to define deficiencies, shortcomings, and some directions for future research. Current research in the area focuses mainly on the national level while that for the local level is in short supply. Consequently, proposals for future research concern e-Government at the local level.PI - Publika Informationssyste
