Features of ground-based calibration of the on-board radiometric systems with large antennas

Abstract

The impact of antenna parameters of a microwave radiometric system on the accuracy of measurements of radio-brightness temperature in the Earth sounding from the outer space is considered. A method of calibration of microwave radiometric systems is suggested making it possible to estimate the applicability of various types of antennas for radiometric measurements, and to perform the pre-flight radiometric calibration of systems with highly directed antennas
