Military Engineer Miguel Constanzó at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Carlos of New Spain

Abstract

Dentro de las muchas actividades que desarrollaron los ingenieros militares, debe destacarse la arquitectura, no sólo la militar, sino también la civil y religiosa. En este arte compartieron responsabilidades con las Academias de Bellas Artes que se crearon durante la segunda mitad del siglo XVIII. En este artículo se refiere la actividad de Miguel Constanzó, quien se vinculó como profesor y luego como consiliario a la Academia de San Carlos de México.As part of their activities, Military Engineers developed military architecture, as much as civil and religious one. In their architectural works they shared responsibilities with the Fine Arts Academies, created in the second half of the 18th Century. In this paper we present the works of the military engineer Miguel Constanzó as a professor and as a consiliario of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Carlos, in Mexico City
