The Ecological Perspective

Abstract

This paper will follow the model of Harold and Margaret Sprout in The Ecological Perspective on Human Affairs (1965) as an environmental study of human behavior. A discussion of four theories of behavior in terms of the environment man-environment relationship and the relational theory are included. The usefulness of the sociological model will be examined while the author attempts to demonstrate ecology offers a world view indispensable to the average citizen. The author maintains ecology can lead mankind toward long-range solutions of many social problems and resource imbalances which political and economic measures deal with satisfactorily only in the short-run
