Italian Archaeological Expedition to the Eastern Sudan of the Università di Napoli “L’Orientale” and ISMEO. Preliminary Report of the 2016 Field Season

Abstract

The article discuss the main results of the 2017 field season of the Italian Archaeological Expedition to the Eastern Sudan of the Università di Napoli "L'Orientale" and ISMEO-Associazione Internazionale di Studi sul Mediterraneo e l'Oriente. The fieldwork took place at Mahal Teglinos (K1), a site mainly dating to the 3rd and 2nd millennia BC, both in funerary and settlement areas, and at UA50, a site whose main occupation pahse dates back to the end of the 6th-first half of the 5th millennium BC. An appendix by Giusy Capasso on the human remains from both sites is also present
