No
No atual contexto empresarial, as pequenas e médias
A importância
Social networks are vital for the survival of the tourism sector, whether they are destinations,
products, companies, or services. Nowadays, any company or business needs to do a good
management of social networks in order to survive in the market where it operates and at
the same time stand out from its competitors. Therefore, it is necessary to know how to
conquer the target market to whom we want to sell our product/service. However, it is not
enough just to communicate, it is needed to know with whom, how, when and where, making
the whole process more effective. In today's business context, small and medium-sized
enterprises are the ones that have to work harder and fight to grow and make a profit.
However, in a market characterized by intense competition it is not enough to have a strong
company, it is essential to add value, and social networks allow companies to reinforce their
position in the market.
Social networks have changed the way companies interact with their clients and vice-versa.
Direct contact, via post or direct message, began to replace on-site meetings that demanded
unnecessary travel and time spending by the client. Companies must take advantage of
technological advances to be able to keep in touch with millions of users, and manage the
contact with their customers 24 hours a day. Therefore it´s essential to understand not only
how this technological advance, that involves millions of users, can be explored by
companies, thus ensuring permanent contact with the client, but also how companies put
into practice all responses in the shortest possible time.
In this context, the general objective of this dissertation is to explore the motivations and
objectives of the Algarve tourism companies to make use of social networks. The study is
based on surveys with entrepreneurs and managers in order to gain a better understanding
on the use of digital channels as a means of communication with customers. Based on the
results obtained, it is concluded that most of the companies studied use social networks,
especially Facebook. The main reason for this type of companies to use social networks is
the opportunity for presenting services to a larger number of potential customers. As for
their resistance in the use of the technology, the reason is not entirely clear, but it is related
to the fact that there is a lack of interest from the social networks on the part of this type of
small business
