Are Women Students More Inclined Towards Entrepreneurship? An Entrepreneurial University Experience

Abstract

Women entrepreneurs are very popular in Malaysia.This study has been conducted in the state of Kelantan, bearingthe reputation of being an entrepreneurial state and harbouringthe highest number of women entrepreneurs too. Recognizing theimportance of the emerging women entrepreneurs in creating avibrant and dynamic economy for the nation, the MalaysianGovernment has been actively promoting womenentrepreneurship towards realising Malaysia’s Vision 2020.However surprisingly, little research has been undertaken todetermine the factors influencing inclination of women studentstowards entrepreneurship, particularly in Malaysia. Theliterature suggests that social psychological and educationalinstitutes approaches are widely used to explore and analyze therelationship between the influence of women’s individualcharacteristics, internal motivation, parental influence, and theirbusiness management acumen, business interest and willingness,goals and motives, networking and entrepreneurial orientationand inclination
