U ovome radu objašnjeni su pojmovi demencije i demencije Alzheimerova tipa, a istraženo je i procesiranje značenja, odnosno područja mozga koja su za nj zadužena, kao i područja mozga koja zahvaća sindrom demencije Alzheimerova tipa. Rad se temelji na eksperimentu, odnosno na testu semantičkih asocijacija. Test semantičkih asocijacija, koji se sastoji od dva dijela: zadatka visoko predočivih riječi i zadatka nisko predočivih riječi, proveden je kako bi se procijenila ispitanikova sposobnost odabira ciljane riječi koja je s drugom riječi usko semantički povezana te kako bi se ustanovilo koliko će ispitanik biti sposoban razlučiti ciljanu riječ od zadanih distraktora.This thesis describes the concepts of dementia and Alzheimer's disease, and the processing of meaning, i.e. the parts of the brain designated for meaning, but also the parts affected by Alzheimer's disease attacks, are explored. The paper is based on an experiment, i.e. semantic association test. The semantic association test, consisting of two parts – high imageability words task and the low imageability words task was conducted to estimate the subject's ability to choose a target word that is closely semantically related to the other word and to see how well the subject will be able to differentiate the target word from the given distractors
