Supporting traumatized children in a trauma clinic

Abstract

This paper examines the current empirical evidence for defining child neglect and abuse based on results from research reviews conducted online and through reports from other professionals. This paper examines some of the many effects of child abuse and neglect and seeks to examine attachment theories; how children's perceptions over time change towards their attachment figures and how these factors affect placement. The researcher is looking at how a Child Development Practitioner can collaborate with other professionals in order to help support children in crisis through strategies, language and vocabulary, and how placements are chosen; as well as how to support and stabilize children in trauma
