The current project presents the development of a system that is used to detect the exact location of a vehicle, through an embedded Global Positioning System (GPS) module. The system will provide the global vehicle coordinates to the vehicle's owner by sending a Short Message Service (SMS) text to the owner's cell phone, through a Global Service for Mobile (GSM) modem. Moreover, the system allows the vehicle's owner to send a command via cell phone that will disable the vehicle's engine in case of theft. The hardware implementation of the system includes, in addition to the Global Positioning System and the Global Service for Mobile modules, an embedded microcontroller which has been programmed to perform the integrated system operations. There is a user friendly device called Liquid Crystal Display which is also used in order to have a look at the output
