Abstract
In this study, Op.32 “The Planets” orchestra suite of Gustav Holst was analyzed a long brief research an English music history as well as composer’s life and composing techniques. In the first chapter the research method was explained. The second chapter, form of suite and details are explained. The third chapter details life and works of Gustav Holst. The fourth chapter includes structural musical analysis of Gustav Holst’s Op.32 “The Planets” Orchestra Suite. The aim of this study is to provide resources to all orchestral and choral conductors, all artists or candidates who wish to work on this work through a structural analysis of Gustav Holst's Op.32 “ The Planets” orchestra suite. It is thought that the study will be supported by researches on English music and orchestral works written in this context, and it will be an important study considering the difficulty of finding resources in our language especially in terms of information and analysis about Holst's life and works.Bu çalışmada Gustav Holst’un Op.32 “Gezegenler” isimli orkestra süitinin incelemesinin yanı sıra, kısaca bestecinin hayatı, İngiltere müzik tarihi de araştırılmıştır. Birinci bölümde araştırma yöntemi açıklanmış, ikinci bölümde süit formuna yer verilmiş, üçüncü bölümde Gustav Holst’un yaşamı ve besteciliği incelenmiş, dördüncü bölümde ise Gustav Holst’un Op.32 “Gezegenler” orkestra süitinin yapısal analizine yer verilmiştir. Bu çalışmanın amacı, Gustav Holst’un Op. 32 “Gezegenler” orkestra süitinin yapısal açıdan incelenmesi yoluyla, bu eseri çalışmak isteyen tüm orkestra ve koro şeflerine, enstruman çalan tüm sanatçılara veya adaylarına kaynak sunmaktır. Araştırmanın, İngiliz müziğine ve bu bağlamda yazılmış olan orkestra eserlerine yönelik araştırmalarla desteklenerek, özellikle Holst’un hayatı ve eserleri ile ilgili bilgi ve analiz anlamında dilimizde kaynak bulunmadaki zorluğu göz önünde tutularak, önemli bir çalışma olacağı düşünülmektedir
