Combined CP violation measurements by the BaBar and Belle Collaborations

Abstract

We present a measurement of the time-dependent CP violation of B 0 → D(∗) CPh0 decays, where the light neutral hadron h0 is a π0, η or ω meson, and the neutral D meson decays to the two-body CP eigenstates K+K−, K0 Sπ0 or K0 Sω. The measurement is performed by combining the final data sets of (471±3)×106 BB pairs collected by the BaBar experiment and (772±11)×106 BB pairs by the Belle experiment in a single physics analysis. In this first measurement performed on a data sample of more than 1ab−1, we report a first observation of CP violation in B 0 → D(∗) CPh0 decays governed by mixing-induced CP violation according to the weak phase β. We measure the CP asymmetry parameters −ηfS = +0 .66±0 .10(stat.)±0.06(syst.) and C = −0.02±0.07(stat.)±0.03(syst.)
