The present project is based in the implementation of the DMAIC methodology in
its first three phases: Define, Measure and Analyze in the process of inventory
management and delivery of supplies and medicines in a hospital in the city of Quito in
Ecuador.
Therefore, the development of various proposals to improve the process into the
cellar of the Hospital, optimizing two metrics mainly; the first time handing over of
medicines and supplies to any area in the Hospital, and the second the cost of surplus and
missing products in the inventory of the warehouse. These improvements led to solve the
problems identified as the root cause, using industrial engineering tools such as: Project
Charter, analysis of the current situation, functional flow diagrams, critical requirements of
quality, ABC classification, Pareto charts, diagrams box and whisker, ANOVA, regression
analysis, hypothesis testing, simulation and production control to reduce costs and improve
times.El presente proyecto es la aplicación de la metodología DMAIC en sus tres
primeras fases: Definir, Medir y Analizar en los procesos de: manejo de inventario y
entrega de insumos y medicinas en un Hospital en el Ecuador en la ciudad Quito.
De esta forma, se desarrollaron diferentes propuestas que permitan mejorar el
proceso al interior de la bodega del Hospital, optimizando dos métricas principalmente, la
primera el tiempo de entraga de medicinas e insumos a cualquier área en el Hospital y la
segunda el costo de sobrantes y faltantes en el inventario de la bodega. Dichas mejoras
permitieron solventar los problemas identificados como causa raíz, mediante el uso de
herramientas de ingeniería industrial como: Project Charter, análisis de la situación actual,
diagramas de flujo funcionales, requerimientos críticos de la calidad, clasificación ABC,
diagramas de pareto, diagramas de caja y bigote, ANOVA, análisis de regresión, pruebas
de hipótesis, simulación y control de producción que permitieron reducir costos y mejorar
tiempos de entrega
