RESUMEN: La preocupación por el constante incremento de emisiones de gases de efecto invernadero se hace cada vez más notoria, en particular por su estrecha relación con el aumento de la temperatura global. Teniendo en cuenta que el aumento de la temperatura global se ha hecho relevante desde el inicio de su registro histórico y se asocia a diferentes actividades humanas, surge una serie de preguntas acerca del impacto ambiental asociado a algunas estructuras históricas vigentes hasta la fecha, como la Torre Eiffel. En este artículo se llevó a cabo una estimación de la huella de carbono de la Torre Eiffel, analizando su ciclo de vida y excluyendo la deconstrucción y el reciclaje de la estructura. Para esto se utilizó el software UMBERTO NXT CO2 y se encontró que la etapa de extracción y manufactura de materiales y la etapa de operación y/o mantenimiento de la torre son las de mayor generación de emisiones, siendo el mantenimiento la de mayor impacto, ya que es una estructura con gran flujo de comercio que continuará vigente muchos años.ABSTRACT: Concern over the constant increase in greenhouse gas emissions is becoming more and more noticeable, in particular because of its close relationship with the increase in global temperature. Taking into account that the increase in global temperature has become outstanding since the beginning of historic records and is associated with different human activities, a series of questions emerge about the environmental impact associated with some historic structures, such as the Eiffel Tower. In this paper, we made an estimation of the carbon footprint of the Eiffel Tower, analyzing its life cycle with the UMBERTO NXT CO2 software, without considering deconstruction and recycling activities of the structure. We found that most of the emissions came from the extraction/manufacturing of materials and operation/maintenance stages, being the operation the one that contributes the most, given the large impact of tourism and commerce that will continue in the forthcoming years
