He works on Area Studies (focusing on the film culture of Bydgoszcz), the story of Polish cinematography during the First World War and the years following the restora-tion of Poland’s sovereignty, and the Cinema of Czechoslovakia and the Czech Republic. He is currently working on a monograph on Czech myths in the movies. She graduated with a degree in film studies from the Faculty of Managment and Social Communication at the Jagiellonian University. Her Ph.D. thesis subject was cy-berpunk in Eastern and Western cinema. She researches far-eastern cinematographies and is the editor of “Authors of Asian Cinema” book series. She is the author of many texts about anime and contemporary filmmakers. ORCID 0000-0001-9474-9271.Konrad Klejsa – PhD is a Professor in the Uni-versity of Łódź’s Department of Film and Au-dio-Visual Media. The key field of his research is post-1945 European film history. He recently co-edited volumes on film education and a col-lection on Polish-German film relationships. His current research centres on patterns of film distribution and exhibition in the People’s Re-public of Poland. ORCID 0000-0001-5109-3698.Katarzyna Lisiecka  – literary scholar, the-atrologist, operologist, employed as a  uni-versity professor at the Opera and Theatre Department of Faculty of Polish Philology at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, member of Centre for Research on Musical Theatre at Adam Mickiewicz University. She is the author of the monograph Fuzja sztuk i  horyzontów. Arystotelesowski paradygmat opery (2019, postdoc.) and numerous studies dedicated to matters of musical theatre and audio-visual arts dramaturgy, co-editor of sev-eral joint monographs. Her research revolves around the history and aesthetics of the opera, relationships and correspondence of the arts and relations between the aesthetic and idea-tional layer in the literaric-musical artwork, as well as theatre and cinema. She is fascinated by the strong and vital presence of dramat-ic-musical masterpieces from centuries ago in modern culture, and by the deep effect of the old aesthetical influences on broadly-defined Western art and culture. He is currently in his fifth year of his PhD in film studies at the Jagiellonian University in Kraków, Poland. Since October 2017, he has been working as a researcher at the Leibniz Institute for the History and Culture of East-ern Europe (GWZO) in Leipzig. His research project explores the development of the science fiction film genre in Eastern Europe from 1945 to 1989. His doctoral research focuses on the evolution and failure of the genre of utopische Filme in the German Democratic Republic. Her re-search interests include multifarious, interme-dial and transmedial interrelations between films and video games. She examines, among others, the use of forms of audiovisual cine-matic means of expression in video games as well as the issue of the players’ immersion. She is a film studies scholar and she is academically interested in how myth functions in film, American cinema and the aesthetics of film image. In 2018, she defended her doctoral thesis, Bohater mityczny w filmach Christophera Nolana [A Mythical Hero in Chris-topher Nolan’s Films]. ORCID 0000-0003-4301-080X.Katarzyna Taras – graduated from Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń in 1997. She is a Professor of Polish National Filmschool in Lodz and a film critic. Her academic interests could be described in three points: the border-lines of film and literature, the latest Polish film, and the art of cinematography. She wrote three books: Witkacy i film [Witkacy and Film] (2005) Egoista czy Edi? Bohaterowie najnowszych pols-kich filmów [An Egoist” or Edi? She is a member of ViDi (Visual and Digital Cultures Research Center) and A* Antwerp Gender and Sexuality Studies Network at the University of Antwerp. She attained her Master of Arts at Kyoto Univer-sity of Arts and Design, Japan, and her Bachelor of Arts at the Academy of Arts Banja Luka, BIH. Her current research focuses on ex-Yugosla-vian cinema and its representation of women. She is the author of the 2019 book – Kicz i piękno w twórczości Paola Sorrentina na przykładzie dzieł: “Wielkie piękno”, “Młody papież”, “Wszystkie odloty Cheyenne’a” oraz “Młodość” [Kitsch and beauty in the works of Paolo Sor-rentino with the examples of: ‘The Great Beau-ty’, ‘The Young Pope’, ‘This Must Be the Place’ and ‘Youth’]. She is interested in, among others: contemporary Middle Eastern cinema and au-to-reflexivity in film, as well as the relationships between film and other media.
