Yield improvement using configurable analogue transistors (CATs)
Continued process scaling has led to significant yield and reliability challenges for today’s designers. Analogue circuits are particularly susceptible to poor variation, driving the need for new yield resilient techniques in this area. This paper describes a new configurable analogue transistor structure and supporting methodology that facilitates variation compensation at the post-manufacture stage. The approach has demonstrated significant yield improvements and can be applied to any analogue circui
Improvement of Yield of Bean Grown on Inceptisol Jatinangor Applied with Granular Organic Fertilizer and Harvest Interval
Low bean production in Indonesia is caused by several factors such as poor soil condition and low quality of the pods. The use of granular organic fertilizer can optimize soil as a growing medium of beans. In addition, the application of harvest interval setting in combination with the use of granular organic fertilizer probably can improve production and quality bean pods. The research aimed to find out granular organic fertilizer doses and harvest interval setting that resulted in good effects on the growth, yield, and quality of beans grown on Inceptisol from Jatinangor, West Java. A field experiment was carried out at Ciparanje field, Jatinangor, West Java from February to April 2016. The experiment was arranged in a Randomized Block Design (RBD) with 12 treatments and 3 replications. The results showed that the dose of 150 kg ha-1 granular organic fertilizer and harvest interval of every two days resulted in shoot:root ratio of 12.8, increased percentage of productive branches up to 57.48%, increased percentage of grade B pods (60.17%) and lowered the percentage of grade C pods (29.21%)
Yield performance in heritage spring wheat and barley varieties in organic farming
Field trials show that under organic conditions, heritage spring cereals can in some cases give a yield and quality compared with modern varieties. The paper discuss the season for the lack of yield improvement under organic conditions due to plant breeding
Cost-Effective TSV Grouping for Yield Improvement of 3D-ICs
Three-dimensional Integrated Circuits (3D-ICs) vertically stack multiple silicon dies to reduce overall wire length, power consumption, and allow integration of heterogeneous technologies. Through-silicon-vias (TSVs) which act as vertical links between layers pose challenges for 3D integration design. TSV defects can happen in fabrication process and bonding stage, which can reduce the yield and increase the cost. Recent work proposed the employment of redundant TSVs to improve the yield of 3D-ICs. This paper presents a redundant TSVs grouping technique, which partition regular and redundant TSVs into groups. For each group, a set of multiplexers are used to select good signal paths away from defective TSVs. We investigate the impact of grouping ratio (regular-to-redundant TSVs in one group) on trade-off between yield and hardware overhead. We also show probabilistic models for yield analysis under the influence of independent and clustering defect distributions. Simulation results show that for a given number of TSVs and TSV failure rate, careful selection of grouping ratios lead to achieving 100% yield at minimal hardware cost (number of multiplexers and redundant TSVs) in comparison to a design that does not exploit TSV grouping ratios
Business Process Redesign in the Perioperative Process: A Case Perspective for Digital Transformation
This case study investigates business process redesign within the perioperative process as a method to achieve digital transformation. Specific perioperative sub-processes are targeted for re-design and digitalization, which yield improvement. Based on a 184-month longitudinal study of a large 1,157 registered-bed academic medical center, the observed effects are viewed through a lens of information technology (IT) impact on core capabilities and core strategy to yield a digital transformation framework that supports patient-centric improvement across perioperative sub-processes. This research identifies existing limitations, potential capabilities, and subsequent contextual understanding to minimize perioperative process complexity, target opportunity for improvement, and ultimately yield improved capabilities. Dynamic technological activities of analysis, evaluation, and synthesis applied to specific perioperative patient-centric data collected within integrated hospital information systems yield the organizational resource for process management and control. Conclusions include theoretical and practical implications as well as study limitations
Global Thresholding and Multiple Pass Parsing
We present a variation on classic beam thresholding techniques that is up to
an order of magnitude faster than the traditional method, at the same
performance level. We also present a new thresholding technique, global
thresholding, which, combined with the new beam thresholding, gives an
additional factor of two improvement, and a novel technique, multiple pass
parsing, that can be combined with the others to yield yet another 50%
improvement. We use a new search algorithm to simultaneously optimize the
thresholding parameters of the various algorithms.Comment: Fixed latex errors; fixed minor errors in published versio
Study of a Nonlocal Density scheme for electronic--structure calculations
An exchange-correlation energy functional beyond the local density
approximation, based on the exchange-correlation kernel of the homogeneous
electron gas and originally introduced by Kohn and Sham, is considered for
electronic structure calculations of semiconductors and atoms. Calculations are
carried out for diamond, silicon, silicon carbide and gallium arsenide. The
lattice constants and gaps show a small improvement with respect to the LDA
results.
However, the corresponding corrections to the total energy of the isolated
atoms are not large enough to yield a substantial improvement for the cohesive
energy of solids, which remains hence overestimated as in the LDA.Comment: 4 postscript figure
Effect of quality assessment on cultivar performance in timothy variety testing in Finland
Significant differences in quality parameters among varieties were recorded for yields of both the first and second cuts. Differences in D-values reflected the differences in earliness of varieties and differences in protein content reflected differences in the yield of a particular cut.
Quality assessment in cultivar trials would motivate breeders to enhance their efforts in quality improvement
