Webometrics of the academic institutional repositories

O presente estudo oferece um referencial teórico, baseado em estudos de Almind e Ingwersen (1997),Björneborn e Ingwersen (2004),Thelwall, Vaughan e Bjorneborn (2005), Vanti (2007), entre outros, sobre a webometria, para aplicaçãoem repositórios institucionais acadêmicos, verificando a implementação nessas iniciativas, que, por suas características de agregação da produção científica, torna-se uma representação da comunicação científica nas instituições. O estudo, também, encontra apoio em pesquisadores como Thomas (2007),Dhiman (2010) e Aguillo et al. (2010) sobre estudos webométricos em repositórios. Assim, revelando que métricas aplicadas em repositórios podem apresentar informações importantes sobre a instituição mantenedora do repositório, em relação ao ambiente web. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACTThe objective of this paper is to provide a theoretical referential on studies by Almind and Ingwersen (1997), Björneborn and Ingwersen (2004), Thelwall, Vaughan and Bjorneborn (2005), Vanti (2007), among others, on webometrics, for use in academic institutional repositories, verifying its implementation in these initiatives, which, by their characteristics of added scholar production, become a representation of scholar communication in institutions, The study is also based on research works carried out by Thomas (2007), Dhiman (2010) and Aguillo et all (2010) on webometrics in repositories. The display of metrics applied to repositories may bring out important information on the institution maintaining the repository in regards to the web context

Altmetrics : complexities, challenges and new forms of measurement and understanding of scientific communication in the social web

Objetivo. Tem como objetivo debater alguns aspectos da altmetria, área comumente associada a métricas como a bibliometria, cientometria e webometria, mas com importantes diferenças, com intuito de contribuir com o seu entendimento, institucionalização e consolidação. Método. O artigo é uma abordagem teórica sobre a temática altmetria, sendo elaborado a partir de um conjunto de textos selecionados em bases de dados internacionais. A bibliografia selecionada subsidiou análises críticas e reflexivas sobre o tema. Resultados. O texto trouxe reflexões sobre a altmetria e sua fundamenteção teórica, buscando-se discutir a definição da área sua relação com outros estudos métricos da informação e as complexidades e desafios inerentes à produção e uso de indicadores altmétricos. Conclusões. A área possui grande potencial, mas carece de mais reflexão, análises aprofundadas e discussão sobre seus fundamentos. Existem incertezas relacionadas à institucionalização da área e controvérsias sobre as possibilidades dos indicadores para medir o “impacto” da produção acadêmica.Objective. It aims to discuss some aspects of altmetria, an area commonly associated with metrics such as bibliometrics, scientometrics and webometrics, but with important differences in order to contribute to its own understanding, institutionalization and consolidation. Method. The article is a theoretical approach on the subject altmetria, being elaborated from a set of texts selected in international databases. The selected bibliography subsidized critical and reflexive analyzes on the subject. Results. The text brought reflections on the altmetria and its theoretical foundation, seeking to discuss the definition of the area, its relation with other metric studies of information and the complexities and challenges related to the production and use of altmetric indicators. Conclusions. The area has great potential, but it needs more reflection, in-depth analysis and discussion about its theoretical foundations. There are uncertainties related to the institutionalization of the area and controversies about the possibilities of the indicators to measure the "impact" of academic production

Strategi Meningkatkan Kinerja Web Universitas Muhammadiyah Semarang Menuju Peringkat Webometrics

Nowadays many University competing improve the performance of the network that they have to list in the Webometrics ranking. Semarang Muhammadiyah University (UNIMUS) is actually a University relatively new also trying to enter competition Webometrics ranking of world universities. This study aims to fill the framework of a strategy to achieve the webometria range. The methodology used for the first time to evaluate the performance of the website parameters unimus webometricos and then create a reference point of three national universities that has entered the ranks of the highest ranking of Webometrics, medium and minor at the national level. Later followed by the analysis of webometria evaluation indicators include the size, visibitity, erudite and rich text files. The results were compiled from then action plans in order to set gap of 3 universities in reference. Thus, the benefits can provide guidance for UNIMUS into the Webometrics rangkings

Information retrieval by webometric technique: Analysis of web mentions of the political parties with representation in Federal Senate

Artigo apresentado no I Workshop de Informação, Dados e Tecnologia, realizado entre nos dias 04 e 06 de setembro de 2017, na cidade de Florianópolis (SC), no Auditório do Espaço Físico Integrado (EFI) da Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (UFSC).Apresenta a aplicação de técnica webométrica entre as conexões na web dos partidos políticos com representação no Senado Federal com o intuito de entender como se relaciona cada partido político na rede. Para tanto, a metodologia utilizada teve como abordagem o método quantitativo com a mensuração de cinco indicadores, no qual foram analisados o tamanho de site de cada partido político e a busca intercalada de dois partidos políticos de forma simples, por operador Booleano e por website com menção web. Entre os resultados verificou que todos os partidos políticos em estudo possuem conexões na web, que a busca com operador Booleano filtra mais páginas que uma busca simples. Em relação ao tamanho de site o PSDB é o que tem o maior número de páginas, assim como o que mais emite menções web dos demais partidos políticos. Ainda em relação aos resultados o coeficiente de Correlação Linear de Pearson apontou uma classificação muito forte para as variáveis Tamanho de site confrontada com Menções web recebidas e para Busca simples confrontada com Busca Booleana. Conclui-se que estudos entre recuperação da informação e webometria possuem correlação, assim como as conexões dos partidos políticos.It presents the application of webometric technique between the connections into the web of the political parties with representation in the Federal Senate with aims to understand how each political party relates on the network. To that end, the methodology used was the quantitative method with the measurement of five indicators, in which the size of each political party's site and the search of two political parties were analyzed in a simple way, by Boolean operator and by website with Web mention. Among the results it was verified that all the political parties in study have connections in the web, that the search with Boolean operator filters more pages than a simple search. In relation to the size of the site, the PSDB is the one with the largest number of pages, as well as the one that most emits web mentions of the other political parties. Still in relation to the results, the Pearson’s coefficient Linear Correlation showed a very strong classification for the variables Size of the site confronted with received web Mentions and for simple Search confronted with Boolean Search. It is concluded that studies between information retrieval and webometric have correlation, as well as the connections of political parties

The text presents the reasons for setting up this Section, the range of its duties, and the examples of tasks done there. The bibliometrics and the registration of the scientific achievements of the staff of the Łódź University are described in a more detail way

Lei de Zipf em discursos orais : uma comparação entre trabalhos acadêmicos escritos e suas apresentações

Curso de Biblioteconomia.A lei de Zipf é uma teoria com base na matemática e linguística que analisa e quantifica como as palavras são distribuídas dentro de um determinado texto. Desta forma, é possível representar por meio de gráficos e análises estatísticas quais são os termos que mais se repetem de modo que seja possível criar um ranking de palavras-chave. Esta pesquisa verificou, por meio da lei de Zipf, as variações e uniformidades de trabalhos acadêmicos escritos (artigos) e os mesmos apresentados de forma oral. As apresentações orais foram inseridas em forma de vídeo no Youtube, para que fosse possível recuperar, de forma automática, a transcrição do áudio. Por meio de um script executado em Bash, os textos e as apresentações transcritas foram quantificadas e organizadas, sendo possível criar nuvens de tags e tabelas com os rankings, facilitando a análise entre os conteúdos. Foi possível identificar as esferas dos conteúdos, identificar as palavras em comum ou muito distantes e analisar e comparar matematicamente o que foi escrito com o que foi apresentado.Zipf's law is a theory based on mathematics and linguistics that analyzes and quantifies how words are distributed within a text. It is possible to represent by graphs and statistical analyzes which are the terms that are repeated over so that a ranking of keywords is created. This research found, through the Zipf's law, variations and uniformities of written academic papers and they presented orally. The oral presentations were inserted in video form on Youtube, it was possible to recover automatically the transcript of the audio. Using a Bash script, texts and transcribed presentations were quantified and organized, thereby creating tag clouds and tables with rankings, facilitating the analysis of the contents. It was possible to identify the spheres of content, identifying common words or not and, mathematically, analyze and compare what was written with what was presented

Rola biblioteki uczelnianej w tworzeniu bazy informacyjnej szkoły wyższej

The universities are subjects of the continuous evaluation, not only in terms of their educational offer and the quality of research, but also in the commercialization of new technologies and their industry transfer. The research output, in the form of scientific publishing, being accessed via institutional repositories, is also taken under consideration and the university e-learning courses are the essential, too. The results of these evaluations are presented in the form of various rankings – domestic and international. The most recognized and important are: the “Perspectives” produced by the Educational Foundation, the report of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education and the Webometrics Ranking of World Universities. The assumption, that soon the obtained results from such evaluation of the universities, will have the much more crucial influence on the budget resources and their allocation from public money, becomes the reality. The supporting tool named POL-on for the financial decision-making processes among others, is recently under implementation by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education. The procedure of input data delivery to this system by universities has been recently legalized by the reviewed act on the science financing. Hence, in the current legal state, questions of the role of university library arise in terms of management the institutional repositories, bibliographic databases of the university scientific publications and research information systems. Emprego e adaptação do método GMP-RAM para avaliação dos riscos das nanotecnologias.

Resumo: A Nanotecnologia está baseada na crescente capacidade da tecnologia moderna em manipular átomos e partículas na nanoescala para criar novos materiais e desenvolver novos produtos e processos. Ela promete grandes avanços nas mais diversas áreas de atuação, desde a Medicina à Engenharia de Materiais. Apesar dos materiais nanoestruturados apresentarem propriedades físicas diferentes do seu correspondente convencional, ainda não há metodologias para avaliação de riscos direcionadas ao uso intensivo desses novos materiais e substâncias químicas. Neste cenário, o presente trabalho propõe o emprego e adequação de uma metodologia comumente empregada para a avaliação de risco de transgênicos para o caso das nanotecnologias. O método GMP-RAM já foi empregado com sucesso para o caso do mamão geneticamente modificado para resistência ao vírus da mancha anelar. Abstract: Nanotechnology is based on the increasing power of modern technology to manipulate atoms and particles at the nanoscale to create new materials and develop new products and processes. It promises great advances in several areas of expertise, from medicine to Materials Engineering. Although engineered nanomaterials present different physical properties of its corresponding conventional, there are no methodologies for risk assessment to determine the intensive use of these new materials and chemicals. In this scenario, this study proposes the use and adequacy of a methodology commonly used for the risk assessment of transgenic for the case of nanotechnology. As teorias de aprendizagem em pesquisas da área de educação em ciências: uma análise cienciométrica em periódicos brasileiros

Teorias de aprendizagem têm servido de subsídio para pesquisas diversas em Educação em Ciências. O objetivo deste estudo foi traçar um perfil cienciométrico das teorias de aprendizagem em trabalhos publicados em quatro relevantes periódicos brasileiros da área de Educação em Ciências,desde o número inicial até o ano de 2012. Os periódicos analisados foram IENCI, Ciência & Educação, Ensaio e RBPEC. As teorias de aprendizagem foram buscadas e mapeadas, utilizando-se como descritores os nomes dos respectivos autores abordados nas obras de Moreira (2011) e Lefrançois (2008). Resultados preliminares identificaram inserções estatísticas maiores sobre Piaget, Vigotski, Freire, Ausubel, Novak, Gowin e Laird. Outros dados cienciométricos permitiram delinear um relevante perfil de conteúdo e de produção sobre esse tema para a área brasileira de Educação em Ciências

Infometrics : history ans trends

Numa releitura da história das metrias da informação em todas suas variantes, o presente Capítulo resgata a contribuição de numerosos pesquisadores da Ïndia, bem como da Europa Oriental e da antiga União Soviética, estes últimos notadamente no domínio da cientometria. O Interesse pelos estudos infométricos no Brasil, e mais particularmente pela bibliometria, nos anos 70-80 do passado século, experimentou posteriormente um declínio significativo, para renascer com nova pujança nos últimos anos, emnumerosas aplicações. A intenção deste longo Capítulo é mostrar, com o auxílio de exemplos concretos, a variedade de aplicações das metrias da informação e, o que é mais importante, ―como fazer‖. Sob uma variedade de nomes – bibliometria, infometria, cientometria, webmetria, etc. – as técnicas infométricas abrem à ciência da informação um brilhante leque de aplicações nos procesos informacionais de representação, organização, gestão, recuperação, planejamento, inferência, tomada de decisão, competitividade, inovação, e todos os desdobramentos políticos, sociais, econômicos, educativos e culturais.In a new reading of the history of infometrics in its whole variety, this Capter uncovers the contribution of a number of Indian, as well as East-European and Russian researchers, the last ones mainly in the domain of scientometrics.
