Psychological and physical patient state as well as the influence of other social factor is of great influence voice rehabilitation. A team of experts in the field of voice and its function are involved in voice therapy. Our research was focused on the succefulness of voice recovery depending on the patient vocal disorder approach. We made a comparison of two methods: RVT and Accent method. We attempted to evaluate clinically relevant voice disorders in relation to certain vocal methods, we propose that a lot can be learned about voice trough therapeutic procedures, which can also be used to enhance the practical application of vocal methods and raise the level of success in dealing with people that suffer from voice pathology

The ESRC's 2010 Framework for Research Ethics: Fit for Research Purpose?

    Get PDF
The ESRC\'s (2010) Framework for Research Ethics extends the remit of its 2005 research ethics framework in three significant ways: the system is to be fully mandatory and it will no longer possible to make the case that no out of the ordinary ethical issues arise; the Research Ethics Committees (RECs) set up under the ESRC\'s 2005 document have extended remit, including reviewing all research proposals accepted by the ESRC and other funding bodies; and funding will depend on the REC review, with its purview extending through a project\'s life. The 2010 document is reviewed in detail and the conclusion is drawn that it is not fit for purpose. Six wider issues raised by the FRE document are discussed: the consultation process by the ESRC was insufficient and the informed consent of the social science community was not obtained; the ethics creep involved will involve unnecessary bureaucratisation; the RECs will operate without expert discipline-specific knowledge using unethical generalist criteria; the overall effects long-term will be deleterious to the research base; the FRE document unacceptably ignores the professional associations and their research ethics guidelines; and the ESRC\'s system of the expert peer review of funding applications will be undermined.Framework for Research Ethics, ESRC, Research Ethics, Audit Creep

The purpose of the study was to make an evaluation of curricula-training effectiveness, applicability, and need for additional training within four of the state-supported college-universities of Utah. The schools researched were Utah State University, the University of Utah, Weber State College, and Southern Utah State College. The descriptive research techniques of a closed-form questionnaire were utilized to obtain informational data for the years 1969-1971 from graduates, faculties, and selected graduates concerning common and traditional curricular areas of Ca) music theory, (b) scoring and arranging, (c) music history, Cd) conducting and rehearsal techniques, (e) vocal methods and materials, (f) instrumental methods and materials, (g) group instruction, (h) private instruction on the major instrument, (i) performance, and (j) minor instrument repair. The data revealed that there was no significant difference in the responses to the questionnaire across graduates, across faculties, across institutions, or across graduates and faculty from the same institution. The conclusions from the study indicated: present training effectiveness is generally excellent in all areas of the music education curricula in all four schools; training is highly applicable; although the training is excellent and applicable, there remains the strong desire by both graduates and faculty for additional training in all areas of curricula with the exception of traditional-music history

    Graduate Recital

The writer, in preparing for the recital , was concerned mainly with the following objectives: 1. To improve his own ability to perform well with the vocal instrument. 2. To find new avenues of approach to the problem of teaching correct vocal methods in the classroom. It is the belief of the writer that if one does not continue to study and learn of the many problems that arise in teaching the vocal art , he will not perform well as a teacher of that, or any, art. The writer is sure that if he had not continued his studies to improve his teaching method and understanding of the problems involved, the amount of improvement in his own work would not have been nearly so noticeable. The writer keeps thinking of his first few years in the classroom. He realized that his methods and experience at that point had not developed to a degree of adequate performance for classroom instruction. It was this need for more understanding that motivated him to obtain more information about the subject of which was trying to teach. It was this motivation that led to the election of a recital program
