Baryon Number Transfer in Hadronic Interaction
The process of baryon number transfer due to string junction propagation in
rapidity is considered. It has a significant effect in the net baryon
production in collisions at mid-rapidities and an even larger effect in
the forward hemisphere in the cases of and interactions. The
results of numerical calculations in the framework of the Quark-Gluon String
model are in reasonable agreement with the data.Comment: Latex, 17 figs. in ps files, 1 table. Submitted to EPJ C The title of

Fermionic effective action and the pahse estructure of non compact quantum electrodynamics in 2+1 dimensions
We study the phase diagram of non compact using the microcanonical
fermionic average method described elsewhere. We present evidence for a
continuous phase transition line in the plane, extending down to
arbitrarily small flavour number .Comment: 12 pags + 1 table + 5 figs; Ref: DFTUZ 93.0
Nonperturbative calculation of Born-Infeld effects on the Schroedinger spectrum of the hydrogen atom
We present the first nonperturbative numerical calculations of the
nonrelativistic hydrogen spectrum as predicted by first-quantized
electrodynamics with nonlinear Maxwell-Born-Infeld field equations. We also
show rigorous upper and lower bounds on the ground state.
When judged against empirical data our results significantly restrict the
range of viable values of the new electromagnetic constant which is introduced
by the Born-Infeld theory.
We assess Born's own proposal for the value of his constant.Comment: 4p., 2 figs, 1 table; submitted for publicatio
A renewed search for water maser emission from Mira variables
There is an approximately 60% detection rate for 1612 MHz masers in
association with red, color-selected IRAS sources, though few are detected from
the bluer circumstellar shells of Mira variables. On the other hand and
complementarily, past, pre-IRAS 22 GHz surveys detected many water masers in
association with Mira variables. This paper reports on a 22 GHz survey of blue,
color-selected Miras at Haystack, wherein 18 new detections are found from 238
searched objects.Comment: submitted to Astronomical J., 18 pages, 3 figs, 2 table
Variational calculations on the hydrogen molecular ion
We present high-precision non-relativistic variational calculations of bound
vibrational-rotational state energies for the and molecular
ions in each of the lowest electronic states of , , and
symmetry. The calculations are carried out including coupling between
and states but without using the Born-Oppenheimer or any
adiabatic approximation. Convergence studies are presented which indicate that
the resulting energies for low-lying levels are accurate to about .
Our procedure accounts naturally for the lambda-doubling of the state.Comment: 23 pp., RevTeX, epsf.sty, 5 figs. Enhanced data in Table II, dropped

Magnon Dispersion and Anisotropies in SrCu(BO)
We study the dispersion of the magnons (triplet states) in
SrCu(BO) including all symmetry-allowed Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya
interactions. We can reduce the complexity of the general Hamiltonian to a new
simpler form by appropriate rotations of the spin operators. The resulting
Hamiltonian is studied by both perturbation theory and exact numerical
diagonalization on a 32-site cluster. We argue that the dispersion is dominated
by Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interactions. We point out which combinations of these
anisotropies affect the dispersion to linear-order, and extract their
magnitudes.Comment: 11 pages, 7 figures, 1 table, v2 conclusion shortened, figs clarifie
