    The urge to uncover aspects of human condition permeates my work, from the fundamental curiosity of a child tearing apart their doll to uncover what lies within to continuing a quest in uncovering basic human urges through my puppet animated dramas and tragedies. There is a controversial line between the childlike and the adult-like that can be ambiguous, and at some times more discernible while other times less. I create handcrafted stop-frame puppet animations that explore self-conscious emotions such as embarrassment, shame, and envy within unpredictable life scenarios. These are animations about inner life, attempting to resolve conflicting elements of the human psyche. At first glance, these puppets might appear scary, but upon closer observation the viewer may realize it is the puppet who is scared

Creativity and innovation need to be emphasized and pursued. The Robotic Puppet Show fuses engineering, art, and education all in one. The focus of the project is to promote not only interest in math and science for young women, but it includes art to develop creative thinking. The robotic puppets are powered by Vex motors and servos and operated by remote control. After construction of a robotic puppet, I visited a Boston area high school as a guest speaker to demonstrate the robotic puppet's features and abilities, to talk about engineering as a student and in industry, and to gain feedback from students. The robotic puppet was well-received. Human interaction with the robotic puppet played a large part in the students interest. Future plans for the Robotic Puppet Show include developing more personable robots that interact with students on stage. Results indicate that there is potential for successfully teaching robotics to students in this art/engineering approach to both encourage women to pursue engineering and to develop creative thinking that is much needed in today's changing job market.by Heather K.     Absence of spontaneous action anticipation by false belief attribution in children with autism spectrum disorder

    Recently, a series of studies demonstrated false belief understanding in young children through completely nonverbal measures. These studies have revealed that children younger than 3 years of age, who consistently fail the standard verbal false belief test, can anticipate others' actions based on their attributed false beliefs. The current study examined whether children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), who are known to have difficulties in the verbal false belief test, may also show such action anticipation in a nonverbal false belief test. We presented video stimuli of an actor watching an object being hidden in a box. The object was then displaced while the actor was looking away. We recorded children's eye movements and coded whether they spontaneously anticipated the actor's subsequent behavior, which could only have been predicted if they had attributed a false belief to her. Although typically developing children correctly anticipated the action, children with ASD failed to show such action anticipation. The results suggest that children with ASD have an impairment in false belief attribution, which is independent of their verbal ability

The research methods is descriptive, qualitative shaped with the approach of dance anthropology. Techniques and tools of data collection using observations, interviews, and documentation. The results of this study: (1) The history of puppets hanging among ethnic Chinese Singkawang is not independent of the arrival and persistence of ethnic Chinese into West Kalimantan, which was introduced by the puppet hanging Ajo or A Jong in 1929. In the new order, hanging puppet shows decline since banned by the New Order government through Presidential Decree No. 14 of 1967. Post-reform such provision is revoked, the puppet hanging back Singkawang can exist as usual; and (2) performing arts puppet hanging process among ethnic Chinese Singkawang through several stages, among others, performing a ritual before the show, the implementation stage, and closing rituals

    A lot has already been written on Heinrich von Kleist's "Über das Marionettentheater" ("On the Marionette Theater"). I will engage in a reading that is based on deconstructivist approaches as well as on queer- and cyberfeminist-thoughtboth of which reform concepts of the subject by taking into question bodily and gender coherence and gender identity. Queer Studies provoke a thinking of the multiplication of difference as well as a thinking of difference within ('entities') rather than of difference between ('entities'). Cyberfeminism explores the possibilities of manipulating and changing the physical body and provides metaphors for thinking 'posthuman' identities.     Rehearsal: A Configuration Verification Tool for Puppet

    Large-scale data centers and cloud computing have turned system configuration into a challenging problem. Several widely-publicized outages have been blamed not on software bugs, but on configuration bugs. To cope, thousands of organizations use system configuration languages to manage their computing infrastructure. Of these, Puppet is the most widely used with thousands of paying customers and many more open-source users. The heart of Puppet is a domain-specific language that describes the state of a system. Puppet already performs some basic static checks, but they only prevent a narrow range of errors. Furthermore, testing is ineffective because many errors are only triggered under specific machine states that are difficult to predict and reproduce. With several examples, we show that a key problem with Puppet is that configurations can be non-deterministic. This paper presents Rehearsal, a verification tool for Puppet configurations. Rehearsal implements a sound, complete, and scalable determinacy analysis for Puppet. To develop it, we (1) present a formal semantics for Puppet, (2) use several analyses to shrink our models to a tractable size, and (3) frame determinism-checking as decidable formulas for an SMT solver. Rehearsal then leverages the determinacy analysis to check other important properties, such as idempotency.
