The analysis of female characters in animated films
Animated films are part of television which as a secondary socialization factor in process of socialization, have an impact on child development. In the process of socialization children, among other things, adopt the behaviour typical for their gender – stereotyped behaviour. The fact that children love animated films because of theirsimple and interesting actions and attractive characters and humour, is well known. Animated films are full of stereotypical behavior and can convey false messages to children, who, because of their opinion limitations, have difficulty understanding fictitious world displayed in animated films and reality. Purpose of this content, with the help of the analysis of four animated films shown on children's television "RTL Kockica", was to determine how and in which amount are the female characters presented, that is, whether they are stereotyped
Interfaces for arcControlTower
Existing tools for ARC-middleware job management provide only basic operations. The effort required for job management using these tools increases with the number of jobs to execute. Most of the existing tools also lack capabilities to manage jobs on multiple clusters. The arcControlTower (aCT) is a job management framework that can efficiently manage thousands of jobs over many clusters. However, it lacks a user interface that would enable its use as an alternative to other tools. Our goal was to extend aCT to enable the creation of various user interfaces. We achieved that by adding application programming interface (API) to aCT. Then, we have developed command line interface (CLI) using the API as this type of interface is the most commonly used among job management tools. Moreover, we have developed REST interface that enables a server setup of aCT since the web access to computing resources is becoming more and more popular. The user interface enabled us to use aCT for managing several thousands of jobs from the ATLAS experiment
Betting addiction as a public health problem
Addiction is an appearance of psychical or physical (metabolic) addiction of alcohol or some other medium. Beside from being addicted to some psychoactive substance, we can see more and more people in recent years whose addiction has developed from some activity or frequent behaviour, that is now shifting from obsession to obsessive and addictive behaviour. Among these types of addictions, is also the addiction to the games of chance (dices) that can be manifest itself precisely through betting. Today, very few people actually know what it is and what kind of addiction it is, often not looking at it as such and not realizing that it leads to considerably big problems and consequences, even greater than dependence on some psychoactive substance. Addictive betting is sometimes referred to as a "concealed disease" because the physical symptoms are not visible, but are projected to almost the entire psychological condition of the psychological condition of the addict himself. If we look at just a little around the world around us, we can see how more and more open sports betting today and notice how the dice literally offers itself and watches at each step to find someone to "devour". Unfortunately, sports bookmakers have become increasingly frequent places where people of all ages and sex groups spend their free time, fooling themselves of just having a little fun and killing boredom. That originally lying to ourselves, becoming more and more reflected in other aspects of life in which the family is most affected. The awareness of how dangerous this addiction is, derives from the fact that an addict who is blind and trapped begins to commit violence against his spouse and children. The child, though is very small, notice that something is wrong with his family, when there is no joy and laughter in the house, but tears and tears have become a sad reality everyday. Often because of the suppression of the problem and the avoidance of being confronted with it, parents become locked in themselves, in this way they obviously ignoring their own child by denying his time, attention, and love. The child then begins to feel guilty and thinks the family breaks down just because of it. From feeling guilty, emotional (anger depression, anxiety, hopelessness), physical disturbances (asthma allergies, chronic headaches) and behavioural disorders are beginning develop in the child. Parents are the most powerful model of behaviour for their children, so a child who experienced trauma because of addiction by one or both parents can start modelling such behaviours, and they could also start to play games of chances. In order to solve the problem in time, we must take the first step, look to the truth in the eye, acknowledge the problem and seek help through treatment through various prevention programs and specially designed therapies
Roma children and young people in Bulgaria: patterns of risk and effective protection in relation to child sexual exploitation
This article examines patterns of risk regarding child sexual exploitation (CSE). There is specific focus on those living in alternative care, child sexual exploitation and trafficking among Roma communities in Bulgaria and the UK. Data is drawn from a desk-based literature review and partnership work with Bulgarian and British academics and practitioners
to explore the issues in both countries. Although there is limited statistical data on CSE and children in care across Europe and the risk-factors for Roma children and young people are still not being fully recognised, we can draw on what is known in Bulgaria to inform practice in the UK with emerging Roma communities. Research on CSE more generally can also inform awareness of risk factors particularly around care systems. Comparative information about what is known in the UK and Bulgaria is considered in order to make some recommendations for international prevention, protection efforts, and prosecution strategies for the future
iOS applications in civil engineering
The graduation thesis addresses the usage of mobile applications based on iOS operating system in the process of construction. The first part describes the operating system and its main characteristics. Furthermore, it presents the iPhone and iPad which are the most useful\ud
iOS devices when it comes to civil engineering, explains the concept of mobile application and defines the criteria for rating its quality. In the second part, the process of construction is divided into four phases. These phases represent the basis for analysing the applications. In\ud
each of these phases the applications namely have to meet different requirements and fit different criteria to be suitable for use. The thesis then focuses on the applications that fit the criteria best. These applications are also more thoroughly described and explained. For each\ud
phase a range of options for use and potential development of applications is given. The thesis proves that there are already many suitable applications available on the market. The possibilities for their use are many and they could be used to simplify and lower the cost of the construction process
Virtual space equipment rendered using Oculus Rift glasses
The diploma thesis describes the development of an applications for the design and equipment of spaces. The application allows input of multi-storey premises and equipment. The user can use the Oculus Rift glasses for immersion into 3D space. Presented are some programs for spatial planning, which allow user to view the plan in 3D, especially those that operate within a browser, without the need to install software. Also, comparison is given between existing solutions and our application. The main advantage of developed application in respect of existing ones is visualization using 3D glasses, which offer a better user experience
