Core professionalism education in surgery: A systematic review
Background: Professionalism education is one of the major elements of surgical residency education. Aims: To evaluate the studies on core professionalism education programs in surgical professionalism education. Study Design: Systematic review. Methods: This systematic literature review was performed to analyze core professionalism programs for surgical residency education published in English with at least three of the following features: program developmental model/instructional design method, aims and competencies, methods of teaching, methods of assessment, and program evaluation model or method. A total of 27083 articles were retrieved using EBSCOHOST, PubMed, Science Direct, Web of Science, and manual search. Results: Eight articles met the selection criteria. The instructional design method was presented in only one article, which described the Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation model. Six articles were based on the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education criterion, although there was significant variability in content. The most common teaching method was role modeling with scenario- and case-based learning. A wide range of assessment methods for evaluating professionalism education were reported. The Kirkpatrick model was reported in one article as a method for program evaluation. Conclusion: It is suggested that for a core surgical professionalism education program, developmental/instructional design model, aims and competencies, content, teaching methods, assessment methods, and program evaluation methods/models should be well defined, and the content should be comparable. © 2018 by Trakya University Faculty of Medicine / The Balkan Medical Journal published by Galenos Publishing House

STRATEGIST : a program that models strategy-driven and content-driven inference behavior
In the course of understanding a text, different readers use different inference strategies to guide their choice of interpretations of the events in the text. This is in contrast to previous computer models of understanding, which all use the content-driven inference. The separate strategies are theorized to be composed of the same component inference processes, but of different rules for application of the processes. The initiation of the Virginia Commonwealth University B.S. in Science program was reported in this journal Fall 1999 as a program designed to meet the academic content major of a teacher preparation program for elementary and middle school mathematics and science teachers [1]. This paper reports the current status of the interdisciplinary B.S. in Science degree program including program enrollment data and trends. Also described are refinements in the required curriculum, which include a newly developed geometry, a mathematical computing course, and an emerging teaching technology course featuring graphing calculators, CBLs, and computer software applications
Five Seconds to the Ad: How Program-Induced Mood Affects Ad Countdown Effects
The study examines what effects a five second countdown warning will have on consumer’s attitudes towards the advertisement depending on the main program content. This study builds upon several theoretical models concerning program-induced moods in relation to viewer’s judgment to commercial advertisements. Findings from two studies suggest that program-induced mood systematically influences attitude toward the inserted ad with (vs. without) a five-second countdown: for the negative-affect program, attitude toward the ad was more positive when the ad was preceded by the countdown than when the ad was not preceded by the countdown. However, for the positive-affect program, attitude toward the ad was more negative when the ad was preceded by the countdown than when the ad was not preceded by the countdown. A similar interaction was found with purchase intent

Patient Engagement and Opinions of a Medication Assisted Treatment Program for Opioid Use Disorder: A Qualitative Assessment
Introduction: Opioid use disorder is widely regarded as a national health epidemic. Stephen Klein Wellness Center 6as started a Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) program to help combat this epidemic- a program that is unique in that it does not require sustained abstinence for continued participation in the program.
Objective: The objective of this study is to better understand the beliefs and attitudes of patients towards a substance use treatment program that does not require sustained abstinence.
Methods: Five focus groups, totaling 31 participants, were assembled from patients who are current participants in Stephen Klein’s MAT program. The content of the interviews included interviewees\u27 general opinions of the program, opinions of its’ strengths and limitations, opinions on how it differs from other drug and alcohol programs, suggestions for improvements to the program, and opinions on the fact that the program does not require abstinence for participation. Data were analyzed using a qualitative thematic approach.

Blue Jeans Go Green (BJGG) Denim Recycling Program: Fusing the Content of Two Courses
A creative teaching strategy was implemented in the fall of 2014 in order to fuse the content of two independent fashion merchandising courses. Blue Jeans Go Green Denim Recycling Program was created by Cotton Incorporated in 2006 as a call-to-action to recycle denim on college campuses. The recycled denim would be given new life as UltraTouch Denim Insulation and a portion of it donated for use in civic buildings and for communities in need across the U.S. The two fashion merchandising courses included Advanced Textiles and Fashion Promotion which shared the same enrolled students
Setting-up early computer programs: D. H. Lehmer's ENIAC computation
A complete reconstruction of Lehmer's ENIAC set-up for computing the exponents of p modulo two is given. This program served as an early test program for the ENIAC (1946). The reconstruction illustrates the difficulties of early programmers to find a way between a man operated and a machine operated computation. These difficulties concern both the content level (the algorithm) and the formal level (the logic of sequencing operations)
