The Odyssey of Archbishop Gavril’s Translation of the Bible

Translating the Bible is not an easy task in any language. Every translation of the Bible is a confirmation of the capacity of a language to convey the Bible’s manifold depths and meanings. The publication of the Macedonian Bible has been received as a historic event in Macedonia. Archbishop Gavril’s translation remains a unique pillar in the development of the Macedonian literary language. The entire process of the planning, translation, and printing of the complete Macedonian Bible encompassed a period of some 50 years. Drawing on these references, the article explores the impressive journey of Archbishop Gavril’s translation of the Bible into Macedonian as documented in his personal letters and correspondences

Implementation of modular arithmetic in FPGAs and ASICs

Táto práca sa zaoberá analýzou, návrhom a implementáciou modulárnej aritmetiky do obvodov FPGA a ASIC. Jej hlavným cieľom je vytvoriť knižnicu syntetizovateľných funkcií v jazyku C++/SystemC pre operácie v modulárnej aritmetike s využitím Montgomeryho redukcie a porovnať výsledky implementácie s klasickými algoritmami.This thesis is focused on analysis, design and implementation of modular arithmetic in FPGAs and ASICs. Its main objective is to create a C++/SystemC library, that contains synthesizable functions for operations with Montgomery reduction in modular arithmetic. Results of the implementation of Montgomery reduction are compared with results of classic algorithms for modular arithmetic.

Besedilni svet romana Vojak s cvetlico madžarskega pisatelja Nándorja Giona kopiči bogato krajevnozgodovinsko, kulturnozgodovinsko, narodopisno in antropološko gradivo. Razprava se v prvi vrsti loteva razkrivanja vidikov, ki se uveljavljajo pri prevajanju romana v srbski, nemški in slovenski jezik. Osredotoča se na prevajanje kulturnih posebnosti in pri tem izhaja iz dejstva, da prevod ni samo akt gramatike in besednega zaklada dveh jezikov, temveč medkulturna komunikacija oziroma kulturna menjava, pri kateri je z različnimi prevajalskimi postopki in metodami »prevedljiv« vsak del resničnosti. Prevedeno delo namreč v veliki meri prenaša tudi kulturo, iz katere izhaja, tako da je bistveni element medkulturnega stika. Kultura je navsezadnje organiziran sistem simbolov, nosilcev pomena, ki je po Iserju »po eni strani model o resničnosti, po drugi strani pa model resnice.«The lexicon of the novel Soldier-With-Flower by the Hungarian author Nándor Gion presents rich historical, cultural-historical, ethnological and anthropological material. The current research focuses above all on the aspects of translations into Serbian, German, and Slovene. The analysis focuses on the translation of culturally specific details with attention to the notion that a translation is not merely a function of grammar and vocabulary of both languages, but an intercultural communication, i.e., a cultural exchange. In the intercultural translation any aspect of reality can be “translated” by implying various translation trategies. A translation is a carrier of the source culture and as such should be considered a significant element of intercultural communication. As the culture is an organized system of symbols, the carriers of meanings, it is on the one hand a “model of reality” and on the other a “model of truth” (Iser)

Recognition of Pieces on Chessboard from Photography on Mobile Device

Tato práce řeši mobilní aplikaci vytvořenou pro platformu Android, která rozpoznává figury z fotografie šachovnice. Aplikace vybere z galerie zařízení fotografii, kterou pak spracuje a určí obsah jednotlivých políček, tedy zda obsahuje černou figuru, bílou figuru, a nebo je políčko prázdné. Problém je řešen ve dvěch fázách. První je detekce šachovnicových přímek pro určení polohy jednotlivých políček, druhá pak detekce figury. Výsledkem této práce je funkční Android aplikace.The aim of this bachelor thesis is a mobile application for Android platform, which recognises chessboard pieces from photography of the chessboard. Application uses photography from gallery and determine the content of every single chessboard cell, thus if it contains black or white piece, or if it is empty. The task is solved in two stages. First is the detection of chessboard lines to determine the position of chessboard cells, second is the detection of chessboard pieces. The result of this thesis is working Android application.

Applicability of a Serbian version of the “Oral Impacts on Daily Performance (OIDP)” index - assessment of oral health-related quality of life

Background/Aim. The Oral Impacts on Daily Performance (OIDP) is a well-known psychometric test used internationally to assess the oral health-related quality of life. The interview and self-administrated questionnaire both assess the degree to which oral health problems have affected the life of the participants over the previous 6 months. The aim of this study was to translate the OIDP index into Serbian and to assess its reliability in practice as its initial verification in the Serbian speaking area. Methods. Following an internationally established methods, the OIDP scale was translated using standardized methodology that consisted of forward translation, pilot study and backward translation. Results. A pilot study was carried out with 44 respondents (24 males i 20 females) using a preliminar Serbian version of the OIDP index. All patients were aged over 65 years. A total of 68.2% of the participants replied that they had at least one OIDP impact on daily life in the past 6 months. These troubles were most prominent during eating (47.7%) and speaking (36.4%), but there is a little impact of troubles in the domain of psychosocial sphere. The corrected item-total correlation coefficients for all items were above the minimum recommended level of 0.20 for including an item in a scale. The standardized Cronbach’s alpha coefficient was 0.75. Conclusion. Based on these results, we can conclude that this index is suitable for use in everyday practice in Serbian speaking area providing useful information required to assess oral health-related quality of life

Modeling of hydraulic drives by means of contemporary simulation systems

Predkladaná bakalárska práca sa zaoberá modelovaním hydraulických prevodov pomocou simulačných systémov, ako napr. DYNAST a MATLAB. Prevážna časť práce obsahuje prehžad rôznych modifikácií hydraulických prevodov + ich popis, ďalej zahrňuje riešenie hydraulických prevodov zmenou geometrického objemu a tiež transformáciou energie v hydrodynamickom prevode pomocou Eulerových rovníc. Práce je spracovaná ako odborná rešerše.This bachelor thesis deals with modeling of hydraulic gears by the help of simulation systems such as DYNAST and MATLAB. The main part of the thesis includes a view of various modifications of hydraulic gears with description. Hydraulic gears, changing of geometrical content and energy transformation in hydrodynamic gear by the help of Euler equation are solving in the next part. Thesis is an expertise review.

Web Application for Bioinformatics Education - Genetic Code

V této práci jsou stručně popsány základní poznatky z molekulární biologie. Práce sa zabýva převodem informace z DNA přes RNA do proteinu, taktéž jsou stručně popsány metody a algoritmy zabývající se detekcí genů. Větší část práce se zabýva rozpoznáváním startovacích signálů a určovaním kódujících sekvencí a jejich následnou transkripcí a translací, čehož demonstrační program bylo potřeba vytvořit. Výsledkem je webová aplikace jako výukový systém.This thesis briefly describes basic informations in moleculary biology. Thesis deals with a transfer of information from DNA into RNA through uprotein, are also briefly described the methods and algorithms dealing with the detection of genome. The larger part deals with the recognition cue coded signals and determination of sequences and their subsequent transcription and translation, which demonstration program was needed to create. The final result is s web application as the education system.
