Intercorelation of Turbidty with Primary Productivity and Nutrient in the Water East Sungaitohor of Sub-district of East Tebingtinggi, District of Kepulauan Meranti, Province of Riau
The objective of the research is to find out water quality condition in most coastal water in East Sungaitohor especially turbidity and its effect toward water primary productivity and its nutrient. This research has been conducted in Sungaitohor waters, district of Kepulauan Meranti. The methods used is purposive sampling. Sampling has been conducted on March 4th, 2017 and nitrate, phospate analysis and turbidity conducted in Marine Chemistry Laboratory and phytoplankton identification has been conducted in Marine Biology in March 10th, 2017. The result shows that the range of turbidity in the waters around 32,07-190 NTU, nitrate consentration is about 2,325-2,4291 mg/L and phospate consentration around -0,5 – 5 mgC/m2/day. Formulation of Liquorice Root Extract (Glycyrrhiza Glabra L.) as Skin Whitening Cream
Liquorice root extract (Glycyrrhiza glabra L.) contains glabridin, an isoflavane as inhibitors of tyrosinase. This enzyme is responsible in melanin synthesis. The aim of this research was to determine the tyrosinase inhibition activity of liquorice root extract and to formulate into a cream with a variety of emulsifier agent glyceryl monostearate. Liquorice root was macerated using ethanol 96%, invitro tyrosinase inhibition assay was conducted using kojic acid as positive control in 96-well plate. The physical quality parameters of the cream were also evaluated. The results showed that liquorice root extract inhibits tyrosinase with the IC50 126.75 µg/mL. Creams containing 1.01% liquorice root extract were yellowish white, aromatics odour, soft texture, homogen and no segregation in O/W emulsion type. It also showed plastic thixotropic rheological property, viscosity of (2800±0.00) – (4000±0.00) Ps, spreadability of (3029.72±0.81) – (3531.79±6.15)mm2, droplet size of (60.00±0.00) – (65.12±0.01)μm, pH of (4.55±0.03)–(4.63±0.04) and inhibited tyrosinase 10.14 - 19.30%. It can be concluded that the formula with 0.1% of glyceryl monostearate was the best formula that conforms physical quality test and potentially to be developed as a skin whitening cream
Methylation of the Gpat2 promoter regulates transient expression during mouse spermatogenesis
Spermatogenesis is a highly regulated process that involves both mitotic and meiotic divisions, as well as cellular differentiation to yield mature spermatozoa from undifferentiated germinal stem cells. Although Gpat2 was originally annotated as a glycerol-3-phospate acyltransferase by sequence homology to Gpat1 , GPAT2 is highly expressed in testis but not in lipogenic tissues and is not up-regulated during adipocyte differentiation. New data show that GPAT2 is required for the synthesis of piRNAs, a group of small RNAs that protect the germ cell genome from retrotransposable elements. In order to understand the relationship between GPAT2 and its role in the testis, we focused on Gpat2 expression during the first wave of mouse spermatogenesis. Gpat2 expression was analyzed by qPCR, in situ hybridization, immunohistochemistry and Western blot. Gpat2 mRNA content and protein expression were maximal at 15 dpp and restricted to pachytene spermatocytes. To achieve this transient expression, both epigenetic mechanisms and trans-acting factors are involved. In vitro assays showed that Gpat2 expression correlates with DNA demethylation and histone acetylation and that it is up-regulated by retinoic acid. Epigenetic regulation by DNA methylation was confirmed in vivo in germ cells by bisulfite sequencing of the Gpat2 promoter. Consistent with the initiation of meiosis at 11 dpp, methylation decreased dramatically. Thus, Gpat2 is expressed at a specific stage of spermatogenesis, consistent with piRNA synthesis and meiosis I prophase, and its on-off expression pattern responds predominantly to epigenetic modifications.Fil: Garcia Fabiani, Maria Belen. Analisis Mekanik Screw Conveyor Tubular Diameter 200 Mm Dengan Autodesk Inventor
Di dalam industri, bahan-bahan yang digunakan kadangkala merupakan bahan yang berat maupun berbahaya bagi manusia. Untuk itu diperlukan alat transportasi untuk mengangkut bahan-bahan tersebut mengingat keterbatasan kemampuan tenaga manusia baik itu berupa kapasitas bahan yang akan diangkut maupun keselamatan kerja dari karyawan. Salah satu jenis alat pengangkut yang sering digunakan adalah conveyor. Salah satu tipe conveyor yang sering digunakan dalam industry adalah screw conveyor. Screw conveyor yang memiliki sistem kerja utama pada putaran mesin dan poros berupa helical, sehingga kelendutan dan ketidak seimbangan mengakibatkan getaran, aus dan noise yang berlebih. Kekuatan daun screw dalam menerima gaya dorong yang disebabkan material dan putaran mesin yang sangat penting dalam memindahkan material angkut. Kelendutan yang terjadi juga berdampak pada kondisi getaran mesin, karena jika terjadi kelendutan yang berlebih berakibat gesekan antara chasing dan flighting sehingga logam hasil gesekan mengkontaminasi material angkut. Semakin besar kelendutan yang terjadi getaran juga akan semakin besar. Untuk menunjang kinerja mesin pemilihan bearing juga sangat penting sehingga memperoleh life time mesin yang panjang. Dengan menggunakan software autodesk inventor professional 2015, dengan stress analysis dapat dilakukan pemodelan mesin yang kemudian dilakukan analisis tegangan daun screw akibat gaya yang dihasilkan dan menganalisis besarnya kelendutan yang terjadi pada poros pipa dan chasing. Dengan melakukan perhitungan secara analitis dan analisa software, diperoleh hasil bahwa material yang digunakan untuk daun screw dan kelendutan yang terjadi pada chasing sebesar 0,4335 mm dan assembly as flighting sebesar 0,9934 mm masih sangat aman dari batas kritis dan mesin dapat beroperasi dengan bai
EPYPHITIC CYANOBACTERIA ON Avicennia marina PNEUMATOPHORE IN MANGROVE ECOSYSTEM OF CAGAR ALAM PULAU DUA (CAPD) SERANG, BANTEN
A Study aimed to explore cyanobacteria on pneumatophore Avicennia marina was conducted on September 2013 in mangrove ecosystem of Cagar Alam Pulau Dua (CAPD) Serang, Banten. Sampling was assessed a long a transect line at two stations. Physico-chemical parameters of both stations, including temperature, salinity, pH, nitrate, dan phosphate were measured. Epyphitic cyanobacteria sample were collected from nine pneumatophores of Avicennia marina at each station. The samples were scraped from cortex of pneumatophore and isolated on solid ASN-III medium incubated at 25 oC under light intensity of < 500 lux for 14 days. The result showed that a total of 9 genera of cyanobacteria; Choococcus, Aphanothece, Aphanocapsa, Myxosarcina, Oscillatoria, Microcoleus, Lyngbya, Phormodium, and Calothrix were observed. They are belonging to 4 order, Choococcales, Pleurocapsales, and Oscillatoriales which were non-heterocystous cyanobacteria order and one heterocystous order of Nostocales
