Prospects for enhancing SEP array performance

Three advanced blanket design models, all employing the OAST thin cell, were developed for potential incorporation into the SEP array. The beginning of life (BOL) specific power of the these blankets ranges from 180 to 660 W/kg. Coupling these blanket designs to the baseline SEP array structure yields array specific powers of from 90 to 200 W/kg. It is shown that certain modifications to the SEP array structure, coupled with the advanced blanket designs, could allow the BOL specific power to reach approximately 250 W/kg

Role of functionally dominant species in varying environmental regimes: evidence for the performance-enhancing effect of biodiversity

Background Theory suggests that biodiversity can act as a buffer against disturbances and environmental variability via two major mechanisms: Firstly, a stabilising effect by decreasing the temporal variance in ecosystem functioning due to compensatory processes; and secondly, a performance enhancing effect by raising the level of community response through the selection of better performing species. Empirical evidence for the stabilizing effect of biodiversity is readily available, whereas experimental confirmation of the performance-enhancing effect of biodiversity is sparse. Results Here, we test the effect of different environmental regimes (constant versus fluctuating temperature) on bacterial biodiversity-ecosystem functioning relations. We show that positive effects of species richness on ecosystem functioning are enhanced by stronger temperature fluctuations due to the increased performance of individual species. Conclusions Our results provide evidence for the performance enhancing effect and suggest that selection towards functionally dominant species is likely to benefit the maintenance of ecosystem functioning under more variable conditions

Enhancing random forests performance in microarray data classification

Random forests are receiving increasing attention for classification of microarray datasets. We evaluate the effects of a feature selection process on the performance of a random forest classifier as well as on the choice of two critical parameters, i.e. the forest size and the number of features chosen at each split in growing trees. Results of our experiments suggest that parameters lower than popular default values can lead to effective and more parsimonious classification models. Growing few trees on small subsets of selected features, while randomly choosing a single variable at each split, results in classification performance that compares well with state-of-art studies

Also, we will assess the company's readiness to do domestic marketing which I think is lacking for eastern Indonesia. Finally, we will provide suggestions on how to successfully develop and implement International marketing, to enter the market in parts of Indonesia.In general, our report aims to drive cool clean companies to a successful path for further development and we believe that our marketing plan will allow the company to significantly expand their business

Enhancing the capacity and performance of collective atomic quantum memory

Present schemes involving the quantum non-demolition interaction between atomic samples and off-resonant light pulses allow us to store quantum information corresponding to a single harmonic oscillator (mode) in one multiatomic system. We discuss the possibility to involve several coherences of each atom so that the atomic sample can store information contained in several quantum modes. This is achieved by the coupling of different magnetic sublevels of the relevant hyperfine level by additional Raman pulses. This technique allows us to design not only the quantum non-demolition coupling, but also beam splitterlike and two-mode squeezerlike interactions between light and collective atomic spin.Comment: 4 pages, 3 figures; minor changes in text and figs, more discussion on quantum information processing.
