Faith, Cult and Culture as Essential Elements in the Missionary Activity of Sts. Cyril and Methodius
Sts. Cyril and Methodius, the Apostles of the Slavs, for many centuries have been in the interest of the whole Christian world.
This article is an attempt of presenting the vital connection between Christian faith, liturgical cult, and culture on the basis of the Byzantine mission addressed to the Slavs, which was led in the second half of 9th century.
Starting from the comparison of the missionary methods used by the Christian East and West in the Middle Ages, then we will turn our attention to Sts. Cyril’s and Methodius’ unique contribution to the proclamation of Christ among the Slavs. In this missionary work, of the great importance was the creation of a new alphabet, and the use of the Slavic language in the proclamation of the Good News, as well as translations of the Bible and liturgical books into Slavonic. The rootedness in the Byzantine liturgical tradition, and drawing from the treasury of the Eastern Roman Empire contributed in a creative and very original way to the formation of the native Slavic culture. In the final part of article there is posed the problem of the effective proclamation of the Good News in the contemporary world in relation to the Cyrillo-Methodian model of [email protected] Uniwersytet Lubelski, Lubli
Językowe drogi chrystianizacji Polski
The article presents the stages of the process of Christianisation and its progress in Europe and in Slavic-speaking lands. Then the selected Polish religious terms and other linguistic testimonies of Christianisation will be discussed. We can distinguish five stages in the process of the Christianisation of almost all European countries: 1. Evangelisational missions; 2. Martyrdom; 3. Conversion (the baptism of the ruler and his court); 4. Apostasy (pagan uprisings, heresies); 5. Re-Catholicisation, new evangelisation.W artykule zostały przedstawione fazy procesu chrystianizacji oraz jej przebieg w Europie i na Słowiańszczyźnie, a następnie omówione wybrane polskie terminy religijne oraz inne językowych świadectw chrystianizacji. W procesie chrystianizacji wszystkich prawie krajów Europy można wyróżnić pięć faz: (1) misje ewangelizacyjne, (2) martyrologia, (3) konwersja (chrzest władcy i dworu), (4) apostazja (bunty pogańskie, herezje), (5) rekatolicyzacja, nowa ewangelizacja

Rejuvenation of Cooperation in Education and Science between Poland and Indonesia after the Normalization of Bilateral Relations
Polacy to z kolei obecnie jedna z najliczniejszych grup uczestniczących w indonezyjskim programie stypendialnym Darmasiswa. Niestety brak jest wiarygodnych danych liczbowych na temat współpracy naukowej polsko-indonezyjskiej przed rokiem 1992 dlatego zagadnienie wymaga dalszych badań z uwzględnieniem szerszego spektrum źródeł indonezyjskich.Since the normalization of bilateral relations between Poland and Indonesia in 1992 we have been observing a steady growth, particularly in the educational and scientific cooperation between thw two countries. The accession of Poland to the European Union have made this country a more attractive destination for foreign students. The number of Indonesians studying in Poland increases year over year. This fact is strengthened through the establishment of Indonesian Students Association in Poland (PPI Polandia). Polish citizens are among largest groups of Darmasiswa recipients - a scholarship program provided by the Indonesian government. In this paper the authors trace the records of cooperation in the field of education and science during the eras before and after the normalization of bilateral relations of both countries as well as the situation observed in recent years. This issue needs further exploration regarding the possibility of more data available in Indonesian sources of records

The Christian Vision of Alter-globalization. The Contribution of the World Council of Churches
The World Council of Churches (WCC) is the biggest and the most impactful ecumenical organization. It considers itself to be an area where Christians from all corners of the world meet. Yet apart from theological dialogue, from the very beginning the WCC has emphasized its social commitment. It is manifested in the in-depth reflection on social and political issues, in various programmes which fight against social problems, and in the contribution to the global debate on the future of the world. For two decades, theologians from the WCC have acknowledged that economic and cultural globalization are fundamental challenges for the world. In their opinion, globalization results in increasing poverty, particularly in the countries of the Global South, and in various social and political crises across the world. In order to face the threats related to globalization, they promote its different nature, one employing technological progress as well as an increase of social awareness concerning globalization. In the perspective of the WCC, Christianity, and the ecumenical movement in particular, has an inalienable task to inspire a new order in the globalizing world. The “Annales.
