Interpretation of a verbal-visual communication
In contemporary internet-dominated everyday life, ever more often one faces communications which utilise both verbal (words) and iconic (images) codes. In the article, I analyse two types of said communications: advertisements and memes. Both advertising content and memes belong to journalistic discourse. Therefore, one can analyse them using the same methods as verbal opinion texts, which require one to specify the situational background, the specific situation, the persuasive/ propaganda aim, and to standardise arguments. At the same time, memes are included in comical discourse, to analyse which it is necessary to be able to juxtapose the actual image with the presented image

Przeobrażenia w posłudze polskich braci oblatów na misjach w świetle artykułów publikowanych w dwumiesięczniku „Misyjne Drogi”
The article analyzes the contents of the review „Misyjne Drogi”, published by the Polish MIssionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate, with special focus on the theme of Oblate Brothers and their participation in missionary works of the Congregation. The changing image of the ministry of brothers is described according to three periods: 1983-1994, 1995-2011, 2012-2015. The articles published during the first period spoke mostly about brothers performing auxiliary tasks of farmer, construction worker, nurse etc. As the years passed, the authors have focused more on the direct participation of Oblate brothers in the ministry of evangelisation, on equal terms with Oblate priests

Science serving faith – how much you can do acting ad maiorem Dei gloriam. About published and unpublished scientific works of Michał Boym SI
Looking at an interesting and very diverse scientific out-put of Michael Boym, Polish jesuit missionary in China, one can ask why so many of his works still remain unpublished. This text analyses some circumstances and conditions that impacted this situation for example relation between Boym and two other Jesuits – Martino Martini and Athanasius Kircher, complicated political situation of the Middle Kingdom in the second half of 17th century or some religious factors of the inner policy of the Society of Jesus. Lecture of the original authorial introductions to the published books of Michael Boym (i.e. Flora Sinensis and Clavis medica ) suggests the author found inspiration for his work in Jesuit motto „Omnia ad maiorem Dei gloriam”. By setting both religious and scientific targets to his works Boym persuaded the order authorities that his books should have been published.Looking at an interesting and very diverse scientific out-put of Michael Boym, Polish jesuit missionary in China, one can ask why so many of his works still remain unpublished.
