Chaotic Planar Piecewise Smooth Vector Fields With Non Trivial Minimal Sets
In this paper some aspects on chaotic behavior and minimality in planar
piecewise smooth vector fields theory are treated. The occurrence of
non-deterministic chaos is observed and the concept of orientable minimality is
introduced. It is also investigated some relations between minimality and
orientable minimality and observed the existence of new kinds of non-trivial
minimal sets in chaotic systems. The approach is geometrical and involve the
ordinary techniques of non-smooth systems.Comment: arXiv admin note: text overlap with arXiv:1307.682
Dp-minimality: basic facts and examples
We study the notion of dp-minimality, beginning by providing several
essential facts, establishing several equivalent definitions, and comparing
dp-minimality to other minimality notions. The rest of the paper is dedicated
to examples. We establish via a simple proof that any weakly o-minimal theory
is dp-minimal and then give an example of a weakly o-minimal group not obtained
by adding traces of externally definable sets. Next we give an example of a
divisible ordered Abelian group which is dp-minimal and not weakly o-minimal.
Finally we establish that the field of p-adic numbers is dp-minimal.Comment: 19 pages; simplified proof for the p-adic
Minimality and irreducibility of symplectic four-manifolds
We prove that all minimal symplectic four-manifolds are essentially
irreducible. We also clarify the relationship between holomorphic and
symplectic minimality of K\"ahler surfaces. This leads to a new proof of the
deformation-invariance of holomorphic minimality for complex surfaces with even
first Betti number which are not Hirzebruch surfaces.Comment: final version; cosmetic changes only; to appear in International
