Maria Sibylla Merian (German, 1647-1717) is best known for her magnificent 1705 publication, Metamorphosis insectorum surinamensium, although she published earlier works on insect metamorphosis. Merian wrote the text and painted all of the illustrations for her books, and for the early volumes she produced most of the engravings. Contemporary scholarship has focused primarily on Merian\u27s detailed images of lepidopteran and host plant life cycles, but Merian\u27s Surinam album also portrays anuram metamorphosis, including the first European depiction of Pipa pipa

As a case study of metaeconomic analysis we discuss Marx.s economic thinking on .metamorphosis.. Our aim is to extend the coverage of the concept beyond the ordinary sphere of economic analysis. For that purpose, the formal structure of metamorphosis is represented by the algebraic structures of group and semigroup. Such a conceptual formalization of metamorphosis enables us to investigate various aspects of socio-economic and physical phenomena. Project: Screenplay Metamorphosis
This paper explains the processes and the result of my final project in a form of screenplay entitled Metamorphosis. The screenplay is a story of a man, Johan Tanuwijaya who transforms from a psychologically sound man to a psychologically disturbed man. To develop my story, I used trauma as one of the themes and the theories. At first, he experienced traumatic childhood, then he recovered until his adulthood and marriage life, where he married his dire attention-seeker wife, Renata. Slowly, he was thrown back to his childhood trauma and that drove him insane. Eventually, he killed his wife and he created another himself in his daughter. From this screenplay I expect that people will have new principles and views about domestic violence and abuse, so that Indonesian society will have improvements in the futur
Condensate cosmology -- dark energy from dark matter
Imagine a scenario in which the dark energy forms via the condensation of
dark matter at some low redshift. The Compton wavelength therefore changes from
small to very large at the transition, unlike quintessence or metamorphosis. We
study CMB, large scale structure, supernova and radio galaxy constraints on
condensation by performing a 4 parameter likelihood analysis over the Hubble
constant and the three parameters associated with Q, the condensate field:
Omega_Q, w_f and z_t (energy density and equation of state today, and redshift
of transition). Condensation roughly interpolates between Lambda CDM (for large
z_t) and sCDM (low z_t) and provides a slightly better fit to the data than
Lambda CDM. We confirm that there is no degeneracy in the CMB between H and z_t
and discuss the implications of late-time transitions for the Lyman-alpha
forest. Finally we discuss the nonlinear phase of both condensation and
metamorphosis, which is much more interesting than in standard quintessence

Cartilage on the Move: Cartilage Lineage Tracing During Tadpole Metamorphosis
The reorganization of cranial cartilages during tadpole metamorphosis is a set of complex processes. The fates of larval cartilage-forming cells (chondrocytes) and sources of adult chondrocytes are largely unknown. Individual larval cranial cartilages may either degenerate or remodel, while many adult cartilages appear to form de novo during metamorphosis. Determining the extent to which adult chondrocytes/cartilages are derived from larval chondrocytes during metamorphosis requires new techniques in chondrocyte lineage tracing. We have developed two transgenic systems to label cartilage cells throughout the body with fluorescent proteins. One system strongly labels early tadpole cartilages only. The other system inducibly labels forming cartilages at any developmental stage. We examined cartilages of the skull (viscero- and neurocranium), and identified larval cartilages that either resorb or remodel into adult cartilages. Our data show that the adult otic capsules, tecti anterius and posterius, hyale, and portions of Meckel\u27s cartilage are derived from larval chondrocytes. Our data also suggest that most adult cartilages form de novo, though we cannot rule out the potential for extreme larval chondrocyte proliferation or de- and re-differentiation, which could dilute our fluorescent protein signal. The transgenic lineage tracing strategies developed here are the first examples of inducible, skeleton-specific, lineage tracing in Xenopus
Metamorphosis: Transforming Non-designers into Designers
In this paper we make the case that there is today a growing number of educational settings experiencing challenges when it comes to transforming non-designers into designers, and in particular, interaction designers. We see this development as a consequence of an increased awareness and recognition of what broadly could be labeled as a design perspective. We examine the transformational process, the metamorphosis, by which non-designer students become interaction designers. We identify and describe the barriers that make it difficult for the students to move through this transformational process. We also propose some pedagogical approaches that can reduce the barriers and improve the possibility for the transformation to occur. The approach that we have developed and describe consists of three parts. Based on a fundamental understanding of the nature of design, we have developed (i) a tentative transformational model of how non-designers become interaction designers; (ii) a special kind of conceptual framework used to support students in the transformational process; and (iii) design assignments based on real-world design problems. We end the paper with two conclusions. First we argue that there is a challenge in transforming non-designers into designers, but that it is possible if the educational effort is based on an understanding of design and on the transformational process with its barriers. Finally we argue that the experience of trying to turn non-designers into interaction designers is in itself a valuable research approach. Dealing with non-designer students reveals deep insights about the nature of the design process and makes it possible to better formulate what constitutes a designerly approach.

Tax Metamorphosis
My favorite course ever, fourth-year high school Latin, was also the most demanding. We translated all twelve books of Virgils epic poem, The _Eneid, line by dactylic hexameter line, and large chunks of Ovids Metamorphoses besides. The course was valuable in many ways, not least of which was that only my youthful reading of Ovid\u27s Metamorphoses later enabled me to make sense of the U.S. Tax Court\u27s otherwise inscrutable decision in Edwards v. Commissioner
Historical and Trans-historical Time of Art
The relationship between art and time is one of pre-figuration–transfiguration, a continuous exchange between the art of the present and that of the past and it is in this sense that we can understand how the works of art are have almost their entire life before them. It is in this sense also that the real meaning of metamorphosis should be understood: The works of art are not permanent acquisitions. They offer themselves the ways through which they appear in another light, gathering up at the same time a series of antecedent expressions in an eternity ever to be recreated. Hence, art’s time is neither a-historical nor exclusively history embedded (in history’s empirical sense). Art’s time is trans-historical: artworks, initiating themselves the process of their metamorphosis, ‘transcend’ time being into time and, thus, they ‘traverse’ history
