    We conducted a Project-Based Learning (PBL)-type exercise incorporating Japanese cartoon (manga) techniques into Requirements Development (RD) processes. Manga has established techniques, such as those for character setting and story development, that we thought are also valid for RD processes. Using this manga-driven method, students were able to clarify high-level project goals early in the development life-cycle, and succeeded in defining high quality and unique system ideas.Comment: SEEM201

    There is ample evidence that high-quality early learning programs are critical for children to be successful in school an din life. Research shows that 85% of brain development takes place prior to a child turning five (5) years old. However, many children do not have access to the high-quality early learning experiences that their more affluent peers have; forcing these children to begin school far behind their peers. Because the achievement gap starts before children enter school and only grows wider during formal school training, we must make high-quality pre-K available for all four-year-olds whose parents want it to provide all Alabama children an equal opportunity to succeed in school and life. Such programs give children entering school a more "level playing field". Making high quality voluntary pre-K available to all four-year-olds is a justice issue

    ABSTRACT This education research aimed to: (1) find an overview of resource about teacher’s resource improvement management in vocational high school based on international INVEST in Yogyakarta, (2) find the effectiveness for the implementation of quality improvement resource teacher program at vocational high school based on international standard INVEST in Yogyakarta and (3) to know the constraints that experienced by vocational high school based on international standard INVEST in Yogyakarta in the implementation of improvement quality for teacher’s resource program. This education is an evaluation study (Evaluation Research), which was done through a case study on two vocational schools in Yogyakarta; they are SMKN 2 Yogyakarta and SMKN 2 Depok Sleman. Data collection methods were done by observation, questionnaires and unstructured interviews. Analysis techniques of data were used to adjust the data’s type obtained, and quantitative data were analyzed by using the descriptive statistical techniques, while qualitative data were analyzed by qualitative descriptive analysis. These results indicate that outlines an overview of resource’s management to improve the teacher’s quality at vocational high school based on international standard INVEST includes the several stages/processes such as: crawl (recruitment), filtering (selection), the placement/assignment, assessment/ evaluation of teacher’s performance, and teachers career’s development. From the five stages of the process, there is one of the most dominant/prominent and effective enough to be implemented by the school teacher is a career development process. This process aims to improve the graduate teacher’s quality in order to obtain the appropriate competence. Problems were encountered in the recruitment and selection process, among others, totaly has done by the municipal government and district government, while the problems were encountered in the placement process, evaluation and career development is generally caused by lack of school’s budget, also the technical and non technical constraints.     Software Development Standard and Software Engineering Practice: A Case Study of Bangladesh

    Improving software process to achieve high quality in a software development organization is the key factor to success. Bangladeshi software firms have not experienced much in this particular area in comparison to other countries. The ISO 9001 and CMM standard has become a basic part of software development. The main objectives of our study are: 1) To understand the software development process uses by the software developer firms in Bangladesh 2) To identify the development practices based on established quality standard and 3) To establish a standardized and coherent process for the development of software for a specific project. It is revealed from this research that software industries of Bangladesh are lacking in target set for software process and improvement, involvement of quality control activities, and standardize business expertise practice.
