    A log analysis study of 10 years of ebook consumption in academic library collections

    Even though libraries have been offering eBooks for more than a decade, very little is known about eBook access and consumption in academic library collections. This paper addresses this gap with a log analysis study of eBook access at the library of the University of Waikato. This in-depth analysis covers a period spanning 10 years of eBook use at this university. We draw conclusions about the use of eBooks at this institution and compare the results with other published studies of eBook usage at tertiary institutes

    Ebook readers have received a mixed press, with some hailing them as the future of reading and others believing that they will never be popular. The study outlined here aims to understand the attitudes of, and issues of importance to, lecturers in UK academia, with a view to improving the design of ebook readers for education in the future. An evaluation of five portable devices is presented, in which lecturers were given the opportunity to read an ebook and provide feedback via a questionnaire. Results are compared with concerns arising from other experiments in the same field, and recommendations are made for successful ebook design

    The study aims to determine the level of computer knowledge among students, the ability of electronic book content and their attitude towards the use of an Ebook in school. The study also investigates the relationship between user computer knowledge, frequencies of using an Ebook per day and the basic skills of using Ebook with the students attitude towards the use of an Ebook. Samples consisting of 93 from form four students. Data was gathered using questionnaire and has analyzed using frequency distribution, percentages, means, pearson correlation, T test and ANOVA test. The finding showed that the level of computer knowledge and their frequencies of using an Ebook per day could be categorized moderate. Results showed that students had negative attitude towards the use of an Ebook. It was also found that there is no significant correlation between respondent experience, frequencies of using an Ebook per day, basic skills of using an Ebook with their attitude towards the use of an Ebook. The findings also indicated that there is a significant of mean difference in attitude towards the use of an Ebook based in different school but there is no significant of difference in students attitude based on gender

    Ebook merupakan ciptaan yang dilindungi undang-undang nomor 28 tahun 2014 tentang hak cipta. Perkembangan internet juga memberikan dampak terhadap hak cipta yaitu dengan semakin maraknya pembajakan ebook dan plagiasi karya ebook. Aplikasi google play book sebagai aplikasi baca dan jual ebook juga tercatat memiiki konten bajakan sehingga hal tersebut tentu dapat merugikan pecipta baik berupa hak moral dan hak ekonomi pencipta. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pelanggaran hak cipta ebook di aplikasi google play book berdasarkan undang-undang nomor 28 tahun 2014 tentang hak cipta dan perlindungan hukum terhadap karya cipta ebook di aplikasi google play book berdasarkan undang-undang nomor 28 tahun 2014 Penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode penelitian normatif dengan menggunakan pendekatan perundang-undangan. Hasil yang didapat dari penelitian ini yaitu bahwa pelanggaran karya cipta ebook di aplikasi google play terjadi karena mitra penerbit dan partner google play book menjual karya ebook hasil pembajakan dan plagiasi. Perlindungan hukum bagi pencipta ebook dapat dilakukan dengan upaya preventif dan represif. Adapun perlindungan yang diberikan aplikasi google play book yaitu penggunaan teknologi pengaman atau DRM (Digital Right Managements)
